The car I bought was a 1989 dodge Daytona es I fell in love with the car when I first saw It it had t tops looked really good, but it cost me 600 dollars to safty it and then I had to spend 500 for a new head on the engine then I rebuilt the engine it cost 1500 and now I'm rebuilding the transmission 1800 this car is now in perfect conditon.
Hi I'm 17 years of age and my Daytona is the best in oshawa it has the t tops a 2.5 liter engine bucket rear seats all options available and they all work!! I just put on a new exhaust it sounds really good noe had to cut out my skirt though looks good and il show up any Honda Civic that tries to rev his engine near mine.
I just wanted to let you know that your car is only worth 2100 dollars fully loaded and in perfect condition (www.kbb.com). You have spent 4400 dollars on it without including the price you bought it for. At this rate you could be driving around a ttop pontiac firebird V8 instead of a ttop daytona ES 2.5. Just thought you would like to know.
I have a Daytona and it too has put me through the money ringer. At first, I was in an accident and trying to repair the car was quite expensive. My ES model is slowing becoming extinct and body modelings are hard to find. Then, even with proper maintinance, the head gasket blew. It must have been age, because I am not the biggest speed or acceleration demon. Anyway, I purchased a used engine with a warranty and over the past year, the car has had soo many problems, but none that I can't afford. It just seems to nickel and dime me. I know I should get a new car, but I have not found another with the same styling. Yes I could have a new, nice car by now, but in a way, its worth it. I have been frustrated by this car, but this is the only car I have ever had (Mind you, I have restored many antique vehicles) that everytime I look at it, I fall back in love with it. So, to each his own.
I've owned my 89 daytona es for about 4 months now I've went through so many vehicles just cause I felt it was time to change till I found this car and thought about the possibilities this car might have. I've had several things go wrong with this car because of old owners poor maintenance, I've put over $1700 dollars in parts and labor into this car just to get it mechanically stable so I can save up for the goodies I'm about to drop into it. if you don't already know a 92 Mitsubishi v6 will slide right down into her leaving most of your engine problems behind thanks to Japanese parts. just make sure you put a high preformance clutch into that transmission or replacing them will break you.
My 1989 Dodge Daytona ES non-turbo which I purchased for $180! has been a great car. Other than the lights not working when I got it (they work now) and replacing the completely bald tires, I haven't had any major problems. I think it may need new plug wires because sometimes it runs fine, and other times it cuts out at about 3,000 RPMs. Other than that, this is a great car.I'm planning on installing an audio system soon because it has no speakers or radio at all. When that's done, I will be happy.
