Sensor after sensor has burned out.
Head gasket blown!
Reverse in transmission went out.
A/C has been gone, engine light will not go off.
Muffler fallen off twice.
This car is a heap of trash. Worst thing I have ever bought and no one will take them on a trade in! The extended warranty cost a fortune but covers nothing. Clear coat on bumpers peals off.
There is a reason why the extended warranty cost a fortune. Chrysler knows full well how crappy these cars really are and is trying to protect itself. Let this be a lesson to you. Avoid anything from Chrysler in the future. Their cars are garbage.
I couldn't agree more. Car is poorly designed, badly engineered and local (Australian) agents have been absolutely useless. I cannot even GIVE my 1996 Neon away!
I am so scared after reading these comments about the 1996 neon. I am 16 and my dad just told me on the phone that he bought me a 1996 chrysler neon. I am freeked out... I hope it does'nt cause me all those problems. -lizz.
Since my wife and I purchased a 1996 Chrysler Neon, we have had to replace the water pump, put in a new Engine, constantly changing the brake bulbs. The car itself is not of a bad design. I have come to the conclusion that as the car was put together with cheap parts, the trick to keep the car from going wrong in the first place is to priorities when it comes to MAINTENANCE. IF THE CAR IS MAINTAINED REGULARLY BY USING THE MANUFACTURERS MANUAL, I SEE NO REASON WHY PROBLEMS SHOULD OCCUR.
