"High Performance Money Pitt and Pain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Alternator went out at 25,000 miles

and again at 37,000 miles.

With only 40000 miles my compressor

has gone out running me $800.00.

The interior is made up mostly of plastic and is starting to fall apart.

The stereo light goes in and out and occasionally the station channels will

not work.

The weather stripping is also going bad and cracking.

General comments?

There is absolutely no reason that a compressor would go out after 40000 miles, my mechanic was blown away. The total for the repair was $800.00 and of course happened right after the warranty expired.

The first two years I had to replace my alternator twice and the battery once, tack on another $600.00.

The tires are very expensive and wear out quickly.

I have also had problems with the brakes

and numerous fuses.

As nice as the car looks and usually drives it is still a money Pitt and I will never purchase another Ford product. That is unless I decide to try the new Thuderbird, but I think I will wait for them to get the bugs worked out of it first.

Good luck if you own a Cougar, you will need it.

My car has gone in the shop 3 times, all times (coincidentally) for the fuel system... the first time the dealership "did me favor" and had the warranty cover it... and that's a lie since warranty will NOT cover it if it weren't under warranty... the second time they told me to put gas in my car and I did... i don't know any better, I'm a young, female. It stopped again, and I called the dealership again and instead of them saying bring it in, they said "put gas in your car" even though the car had gas!! I had to threaten to sue them and they determined that (surprisingly) that there was a problem... they fixed my car... now AGAIN my car has a problem and now this time it's a whole can of WATER in my car...it's funny because I hadn't pump gas in 3 DAYS and NOW it's giving me problems... that car wouldn't have made out my subdivision with THAT much water... sorry I don't believe it and I now I had no choice, but to pay over $400.00 for my car... this is just a summary...there's much more to say-- like how I found a girl stranded somewhere and SHE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM with the same exact make and year as mine!!!
