Nothing.
I made a decision that I was going to indulge myself and get a car that I really wanted - no compromises. I spent lot of time and effort researching what car I was going to buy and opted for the Audi because of its reputation, style and equipment. I ended up getting the 2.4 V6 with the multitronic transmission.
I do a lot of country driving, often 300 to 600 kilometers a day on indifferent Australian roads. The A4 has met all my expectations: it is surprisingly economical, handles well, cruises at the speed limit (actually some way above) in a relaxed way. I especially love the transmission, it gets off the mark quickly and then when it has reached cruising speed goes back to 1800 revs. On the windy roads I use the 6-speed semi automatic which makes the driving fun.
My only reservations are very minor. It uses a more oil than I expected. On one long trip the
Hi there. Enjoy your Audi. They are a well built and stylish mode of transport. I am also from Australia.
It is interesting to note that your car uses oil. I also had an Audi A4 (a little older than yours - the last shape '99) and noticed that it seemed to burn oil especially on longer freeway stretches. My mechanic told me that this could mean significant trouble in the long run since it should not be consuming/burning significant amounts of oil between services as it was a late model car! I promptly traded it in since the car was no longer under warranty. My 1 year old new car (Beemer 3 series - also nice) does not burn any oil.
There is no reason at all why your late model Audi should be consuming oil -it ain't no V8 Commodore! If I were you, I would get it checked out and any problem rectified under warranty before it causes you serious problems in the future.
I have an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro and have about 20,000 miles. I have not had one problem with the car yet. It doesn't burn any oil between 5000 mile changes. This has been the most reliable and most enjoyable car I have ever owned. It's a flawless car (except for a view scratches in the bumper).
I have an Audi A4, 2004. I drive it a lot to and from work. I love the car except it has begun to burn a significant amount of oil. I put in a quart and in less than two weeks, needed two more. It is now in the dealership. This seems very similar to the original statement of burning oil listed above. Hopefully, Audi can fix and avoid long-term problems.
I also have a 2002 A4 2.4. For the money spent the car is not value for money in my opinion. It uses oil, Audi tell me this is a feature of modern engines?? I thought this was a fault of early motor cars till the 70's.
The sun roof, factory fitted, causes buffeting at moderate speeds. It handles poorly at low speeds at close to full lock when too much power transfers to the front wheels.
There is always a minor problem, locks breaking, lamps failing, the radio had to be replaced as did the stering rack.
For those of you who love them, I envy you.
2004 Audi A4 3.0l is what I own. I purchased it in 2004 with 15000 kms on it. It has a quattro with tiptronic auto trans., and sport package.
I love this car for the sporty look and the way it handles. I have owned several beemers and like them as well, but I would purchase another Audi in a heartbeat.
