1. Lug nuts rusted
2.Rear window regular broke.
3. Oil leak in rear axle.
5. Computer failure in traction control.
6. The electric door lock switch is lo-
cated inconveinently in the middle of
the dash.
7. The power window buttons are located
inconveinently in the center counsel.
8. And most alarming, my three year old
child opens the rear doors as the car
is running. This vehicle does not
have child locks for the rear doors.
This was confirmed by the dealer.
The E320 is as smooth as silk, especially the transmission.
However, after the warranty I would be worried on expensive repairs.
All maintenance covered during the warrant, oil changes, fluids, etc.
I wrote the above original review. It now has 50K on it. In that time the usual oxygen sensor went out 300 dollars and both motors that control the front seat head rests. They are kept in stock I was told due to they always fail. Other than that it has kept on going rather well. JB11-18-2005.
Thank you for your update! Folks like you really help others by adding info as the odometer keeps turning.
We're considering getting a 2001 E320.
52,000 miles and the headrest motors went out again. Lasted 15 months. Dealer felt sorry for me and sold them at cost. Just returned from the RCA Dome and a 200 mile round trip at 28.8 miles per gallon at 75-80 mph.
Be careful of the rear antenna on the roof for the tele aid. The black verticle rubber cover gets whacked in the car wash or some other way and it is about a hundred bucks to replace. They come color coded. The older my 2001 E 320 gets the less problems I have had with it.
Midas wanted 1400.00 dollars for a four wheel brake job of new rotors and pads. The Benz dealership was slighty less. I took it to a Chevrolet dealership in Fort Wayne and they did it for about half that including the Mercedes Parts. The dealership also aligned it and changed the oil. They like working on it and I save big bucks.
