2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer LS from North America - Comments

"Unfortunately, a lemon. Has to go back"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Trailblazer has been in for service 15 times since purchase since March.

4WD. Service 4 Wheel drive light on.

A/C quit working.

Rear Wiper quit.

Terrible squeak/creak.

Shock Mount bolt sheared off.

General comments?

This vehicle looks good and is comfortable, however, it has been in the dealership it was purchased from 15 times since March 6. and that does not count when in for maintenance items.

On last repair order, the advisor typed in "we are aware of problem with the 4wd, however, GM says that there is no fix. If light comes on, shut vehicle off and restart, the light should go off." That instills confidence in my vehicle.

Hello,

I too have a 2003 Trailblazer and have had MANY problems since the purchase in Feb of 2003. I'd like to know if you were told anything about your squeaking/creaking problem. I have the same problem & they tell me there can be nothing done to help.

Thank you in advance for any return comment.

When I drive my Trailblazer in AWD mode in cold slushy wet conditions, the 4WD yellow service light comes on and stays on and the AWD mode is locked. I cannot switch back to 2HI or 4HI. I have to stop the vehicle, turn off the engine and restart. This has been a problem since the day I purchased the truck (Dec 2002). The following were tentative corrections by my dealer: they changed the 4WD dash switch two times, on another visit they retighened all grounds, and on my last visit they gave up and changed all 4WD sensors. After all that the problem is still there. Besides my 4WD I have had other problems with the truck (mirror position recall) that I have been at my dealer once a month since the day I purchased the vehicle. The dealership employees now call me by my name and I do not know most of them. Is there anyone out there who has experienced the same symptoms and/or knows what needs to be done to correct this problem?

I have had problems with the 4wd system in my 2002 trailblazer also. Starting very shortly after it was purchased. The transfer case changes from two wheel drive to 4wd without touching the selector switch. The dealer said to turn the car off to reset the problem. Recently it shifted from 2wd to neutral in the middle of a busy intersection. When I returned to the dealer again, he stated this was a different problem, and probably wouldn't be covered under the warranty. It sure seems like the same problem to me. I will have to fight this one.

I purchased my 2003 Trailblazer in Jan of 2003. I have had numerous problems (tail lights not working, a/c, check gage lights on, oil gage falls to 0 & squeak in front of vehicle). I am posting this hoping to help the person with the squeak. It took the dealership a year to figure this one out. The hood latch was loose. I was informed after they tightened it that the hood could have flipped up and hit the windshield at any time. Hope that helps!

I own a 2002 TrailBlazer and have problems with clunking in my right front wheel, I took it into the dealer to have fixed and they couldn't find anything, approx 3 wks later I was in an accident, I was going around a turn to the right and when it was time to straighten out I couldn't my steering wouldn't turn, I ran off the road.

I took it into the dealer and they still say they can't find anything..

Any info?

I just bought a 2002 TrailBlazer LT EXT one month ago, I have already had it to the dealership for problems. They say they cannot help me and quite frankly I know they don't believe me when I say that my truck shifts from 2WD to AWD and even 4HI and 4LO on its own. It seems to only happen when I drive above 60 MPH, and I notice the lights switching back and forth to the different gears, and the car jerks as it changes into AWD, 4HI or 4LO. I have never touched the switch. I am frustrated, and I have seen others post messages about this problem and I need some advice, can anyone help me? I love my new car, but this is scaring me.

I purchased a 2003 trailblazer Lt in march of 03. I have had it in several times. The rear air kept coming on by itself, the rear gasket around the hatch button came loose the day I took it home. the rear seat belt stuck w/my son in it, had to take it to the dealership to get him out. squeaking several times for them to tell me they didn't know. the squeaking is now so bad it sounds as if something is going to fall out from underneath. if anyone knows what is causing the squeaking noise please post.

I am not a fellow Trailblazer owner, however, I know that my dad purchased a GMC Envoy in 2004 and had similar issues with a squeaking noise coming from the undercarriage very shortly after he bought it. After taking it to the dealer, it was found that the vehicle was built with defective sway bar bushings, and it was a very common problem among those vehicles. It was fixed under warranty free of charge. However, the vehicle has had numerous other problems such as: the air conditioning loosing its charge after about 2 years, the turn signal relay failing after about 3 years, the driver's side passenger door latch got stuck, and the rear hatch struts failed, and the hatch nailed me in the head when they quit working. These are fairly minor problems, but I feel the overall build quality of the vehicle was poor. When the car hit 80,000 miles, it drove like a car that had 150,000 miles on it, and it was extremely well maintained. My dad has since gotten rid of the Envoy and Bought a Lincoln MKX, which he is extremely happy with.
