2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK Cabriolet from UK and Ireland - Comments

"This is a great car and women love it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing.

General comments?

It is the only car I have driven or been a passenger in that I cannot fault in any way. With most cars you comment on them as they are a great car, But! with this new model of the CLK Cabriolet there are no But's.

It is all but the perfect car and probably the best 4 seater cabriolet on the market. All 4 seats can be used by adults with plenty of leg & head room.

I own one of these too (CLK320 Cab) and it is faultless and as you say it's a favourite with the girls - guess who gets asked to give them a lift after the clubs close. Me or the BMW/Audi drivers?

Neither of the above.

Any woman with a gram of intelligence would ask to go home in a Toyota Yaris or similar I should imagine, then she would know that the guy isn't compensating for something.

Neither of the above?... Toyota Yaris?...rotflmao... having fine taste in automobiles doesn't mean you're compensating for something, just like driving a Toyota Yaris doesn't necessarily mean you wear oversize shoes, overalls, and a big red nose.

Yaris!!! HaHaHa. Awesome. This can be used as a movie idea or probably as Yaris commercial.

Sorry, but only a woman could claim that a man is "compensating" for something dependent on the car he buys.

Does that mean that no women in history have ever bought BMW/Audi/Mercedes? And if they have, are they just such intrinsically better people that they are not also trying to compensate for something?

Pathetic.

Most women think that men are compensating for 'something' by having a flashy/convertible car, because they don't understand the feelings & andrenaline rush you can get from a car.

Anyone who buys a convertible car be it a Golf or a Ferrari, look in a shop window at yourself...Yup, you look like you are sat in a babies pram. Utterly hilarious especially when there's four of you sat in it. Classically funny, yet they think they look 'cool'

Farleys rusks anyone?

The only "rush" you can get from a convertible is the wind in your face unless it is a purpose-built car like the Miata.

All others, including Ferrari and Porsche, are compromises in weight, speed, rigidity, and often handling as well.

I was going to add a comment - but it's pointless - but I will anyway.

If you've ever owned or driven a Merc, you know what I mean, and after 30 odd years of various cars I finally got a 430 CLK convertible (USA engine sizes eh!) - there is no comparison - hood down, this is the only way to get to and from work - BMW's may be close - Porsche as well - but I know mine is the only CLK convertible in the office car park.

As to comparing it with Toyotas etc - get real - my next one is going to be an AMG convertible.

Long and short - if you can afford it, get it and you'll enjoy it. If you can't - there's always a BMW or Toyota looking for an owner.

"if you can afford it, get it and you'll enjoy it. If you can't - there's always a BMW"

Fairly ridiculous comment seeing as list prices of BMW's and Merc's are very similar.
