"Absolute bargain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Car has been completely fine since I had it. It had done 35k when I bought it for 2500, which I consider quite a bargain! Had just had an expensive service changin cambelt etc so should last for a few years. Only probs with car are that the air con don't work too well (compresser works, just doesn't cool) and one of the speakers doesn't work (probably just wiring) Apart from that... perfect!

General comments?

I used to drive a Fiat Tipo 1.6 so wanted something equally quick, if not quicker. It really was a choice between this and a hyundai accent. I can safely say I chose the right option! Performance is lively. When the revs get past 2.5.k the car comes to life. I find it hard to go slow in this car, simply cos the accelerator pedal is a lot stiffer than the tipo. The slightest touch puts the engine up to 2k. Its imposs to keep it lower. SO in traffic jams in first gear it's a jolty affair! Maybe a bit of WD40 on the pedal spring might soften it up.

It comes with no sunroof, and one leccie wing mirror which is interesting. Obv a cost cutting measure! But I miss all the toys I had in my tipo like leccie sunroof, digital dash board etc.

I really like the shape. Kinda rover 25, cept I think it looks a lot sexier. IOm savin up for some alloys as I reckon it will improve the look even more. Not too many about on the road which is good as I don't wana drive a focus or corsa that everyone else has!

Handling is quite good, it feels low to the ground and the understeer will keep you from pushing it too hard. 2nd and 3rd gears pull superbly and can take you almost up to motorway speed. Insurance is a lot cheaper than the tipo (group 6 compared to 10/12) and petrol consumption isn't too bad (just remember to turn the air con off!)

I do like the sound setup in the car (even with the one knackered speaker) although I have replaced the sony head unit with my own!

Theres plenty of room for me and 3 mates and loads in the boot too. Everytime I get in to the car it brings a smile to my face... and a certain evilness to my driving. haha.

All in all its like an Astra for lunch money!

What an excellent review!

Have to agree with the points already made.

Once you get used to the throttle this car is great fun.

Extremely economical, even when driven a bit more aggressively than your average mum! Will get me from central Scotland to Gloucestershire on less than one tank of fuel!!

Glad I found this site.

Thanks.
