Vibration in the steering wheel when traveling between 58 and 70mph I have had it serviced 4 times for this problem. The fourth time was checked by a Daimler-Chrysler from the Northeast Business Center. He told me that the Liberty operates as designed. That I wasn't the first nor will be the last to complain about vibration in the Liberty. He said all Jeep Liberty's have vibration that cannot be fixed. He went on to tell me not to drive at those speeds and you won't feel the vibration.
I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 4X4, I do not have any vibration at all and I have had the car for about 5 months. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, the vibration problem is only a minor thing. Just remember, it ALWAYS could be worse.
There are several ways to find out what the problem really is and to get it fixed.
First: Contact jeep and ask to speak with the area or division manager for your location. Explain your problem and ask for a written diagnosis of the problem youre having.
If this doesn't work to your satisfaction, Consider taking your jeep to for an independent evaluation by an ASE Certified drive train specialist. Possibly a transmission repair shop.
If this doesn't work, consider an independent engineering evaluation of your vehicle's drive train? To do this,
phone your auto insurance company (not the agent) and ask for a claims ajuster. Then ask the claims adjuster for the name of the engineering company they use when they have a techical problem. Then call and speak with them.
I'm not a mechanic, but my lifelong experience of driving cars and small trucks raise question that something may be out of balance or not mounted correctly.
Jeep has excellent trouble shooters and they should be able to help you, so be fair and give them a chance to correct it.
I'm not saying Jeep, but other companies in many instances have inexperienced telephone helpers acting as customer relations specialists who pass customers around like footballs from phone number to phone number without satisfaction or results, and this can be frustrating to say the least.
Theres always a possibility of one or more of these individuals being on someones paroll without the company being aware of it.
Therefore, in closing I strongly suggest you speak ONLY with a supervisor or manager and get everything in writing. If they say it, ask em to write it so you won't misunderstand what they said. Keep records and notes with names and phone numbers of everyone you speak with. And work delibertly to get your problem resolved.
GOOD LUCK.
I own a 2002 jeep liberty, the problem that I have is that the suspension seams to be sprung. it like driving a vehicle with 300000km on it. I live in Labrador, and have 300km of dirt road (route 500) on either side of me before I reach pavement. It is very dis-hearting to drive this rig over the road. Nearly every pothole she bottoms out, even little dips are rough. I have talked to my dealer, he informed me that he has never heard of this problem, but he is going to check with the engineering dept. to see what he can come up with.
Well if you got the extended warranty, and figure out whats wrong (it sounds like it is the suspension) have it replaced under warranty.
