This vehicle has been nothing but trouble since day one. Windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of a rain storm. I tried everything to get them to work, traced the power cable, checked fuses etc. Finally discovered that the wiring harness was faulty. Since cleaning the harness they've up and quit working twice. Dealer says nothing wrong... Transmission went out at 110k miles, transmission shop charged over $1500 to replace. The mechanic told me that it was common for the Blazer/Jimmy to have transmission failer... driver side power window stopped working last summer, dealer said it would cost $275 to replace, I found a new motor on ebay for $65 and replaced myself. Now the vehicle just stalls for no apparent reason, took to dealer and they said needs new fuel injection system. Paid over $1200 for the work and guess what... the engin still stalls. This vehicle purchase was the biggest mistake I've ever made, I will never buy another GM product again.
LEMON.
I worked as a tech for gm 21 years and would like to see the maintinence records on this one...did all my oil changes!that is not maintinence, ever service the transmission?or anything else.
We are having the same problem with our 1998 4wd GMC Jimmy. The air bag light flashes, some other service lights pop on and the thing just stalls. I looked for a recall notice, but could not find any. I am wondering now if I should bother getting it fixed or cut my loses. We bought the vehicle used a little over a year ago. I managed to get the wipers taken care of and now this!!!
We are having the same problem with our 98 jimmy.
Bought the car used from dealer here in florida at that time car had 28,000 miles first thing to go wrong was the a/c compressor which the dealer replaced.
At 45,000 the transmission went out we had the dealer repair it at a cost of about 1400.00 dollars. had problems with the drivers side window not wanting to come up once in awhile, but other than that we have been pretty lucky until this mornig when I was driving home from work the trans started whinning and I lost reverse gear. The car has 110,000 miles on it now and yes we do have the service records for this vehical. do yourself a Favor buy a FORD.
Sounds to me like an ignition switch. Next time it stalls put it in park and then turn the key forword and see if it will come out of park. If not then that's the problem.
