"A well built car and a good performer"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I had to replace a exhaust doughnut gasket, oxygen sensor, PCV valve, battery, the exhaust and just the regular stuff distributor cap and coil and all of the wires.

General comments?

The insurance is very cheap at under $700 a year for me to drive it.

The price was definitely right with all of the maintenance and the price of the car it only cost me about $3500.

The interior is in perfect condition it is just like it was back in 1987.

The car was manufactured one month before I was born.

The car is well built machine.

There is no doubt that I would buy another actually I might in the near future.

The gas mileage is great for a 8 cylinder right I am getting about 21 to the gallon depending how much I press down that pedal and trust me that car can go.

There is not one complaint that I have about the car.

It even has mainly every option offered in that model year which is nice.

I just guess not many 16 year olds think of wanting a full size Cadillac sedan as their first car, but I am happy very with it.

No, not too many 16 year-olds do, but that is their loss and our gain. I am 21 now and bought my first Cadillac at 16. I have never and probably never will drive a finer car than a Cadillac. My first was a 1983 Coupe Deville and I now drive a 1992 Fleetwood. I have gotten tons of compliments on my cars from old and young alike. Keep your car well-maintained, though, because sadly they don't make them like that anymore.

How do you get 21 miles to the gallon? that's impossible!! I only get 10 at the most, you must be bluffing. And yes, driving in a Brougham is very satisfying to drive. I am also 16 years old. Forget those tinny export cars with their stupid tinny mufflers, I'd rather drive a Caddy.

I have an '86 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance with 76000 miles on it and I average 20 mpg (17 when it's hot and the climate control is using the A/C), so I don't think that the guy is lying.

That guy 2 squares up gettin 10mpg in the caddy probably has a hole in his gas tank.

My 68 sedan get 8mpg if I drive it to the boards all day (and I do) and its got a big 472ci in it.

I love my!989 Cadillac Brougham D'elegance. It is the smoothest riding car I've ever rode in. I am also 16 and received my Caddy as a birthday present... It was sitting idle in a driveway for 2 years so it does need a little work to get going... Other than that everything still works! I did have to fashion a new windshield whiper fluid switch out of some old parts I found... and I do have to change out the fluids (it had overheating problems while it was working) and I need new driver-side head gaskets... Other than that it is in great condition for have 268000km.

And it still gets 21-22mpg on the highway atleast!

I just recently bought a 1988 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham from my grandparents, who treated this car very well. I am 16 years old and this is my first car I have ever owned besides my parents car which was a 1988 Chevrolet Caprice Classic, also a large vehicle. I am in love with RWD, V8 powered vehicles because they are the best vehicles that General Motors rolled off their assembly lines. It's too bad that they don't make them like they used to. Now all I hear about at school is how great those lousy japanese cars are, and how fast they go. Well I'd rather be in a Cadillac any day than some sardine can. I plan to keep my caddy as long as I can.

Yeah, I get about 18mpg and I use 93 octane. I also keep my car well tuned-up with AC-Delco platinum plugs and MSD premium wires. I also have a dual flow master true exhaust system. It doesn't sound loud, it just has a nice deep sound. I recommend that everyone do this to your caddy, it gave me more power of the line. The only flaw inside my car is a slightly cracked driver side arm rest. I have a nice sound system as well, with a TV. They don't make cars like this anymore.

Caddis are great. I was wondering if any of you teens kick off your sneakers and pound the gas pedal in your white socks? try it some time. driving in socks is awesome.

I agree. I am 17 now and bought my 87 brougham when I was 16. I do not regret the purchase. For everyone who doesn't think the Cadillac Brougham gets good gas mileage, it does. 21 miles to the gallon is no exaggeration. I made a 300 mile trip and used a tiny bit under a fourth of a tank of gas.

Yeah, something's up with mine, then ('89). I went from 15 MPG around town to 9 lately. That was AFTER I switched to 92 octane fuel. When you guys say 20 MPG I have to assume you're talking highway mileage. Even then, it's nothing, but a dream for me at this point!

I bought my 87 Brougham when I was 16 as well. I'm 22 now and still have my pride and joy. I've only put on 10,000 miles in those years. Other cars I've owned are 2 85 LeSabres and a 93 Roadmaster. I love full-size GM. I'd rather drive used than spend a fortune on a new piece of plastic. I respect people who appreciate a little class.

I bought an '87 Brougham back in '91. Paid $10,000 for it at age 19. (finaced of course) Gas mileage??? Are you kidding? When I got mine with 55k miles, I got easily 25+ mpg on the road and 17-20 in town. Maybe it was because it was all new and tight. I'm now 34 and am getting nostalgic. I just bought another '87, this one Carmine Red with white leather. a D'Elegance. 53K miles. Can't wait to pick it up!

I am 16. I got a 1987 Cadillac brougham for a $100. Runs and drives great. Brakes need help, there is a little cancer, but still a good buy. It will be deep red with silver flack tinted windows with gold rims.
