I have gone through 3 head gaskets and a set of heads in 3 years.
Replaced timing chain at 200,000 Kms and in the same winter replaced the water pump, heater core and two thermostats. The car is still cold.
At 210,000 km required a new in tank fuel pump. Cheap parts but the fuel tank needed to be removed to replace part.
Struts finally went about 250,000 kms.
Has a major electrical short in it. Blows fuses weekly and the radio and interior lights no longer work. The rear defroster is also included in the short.
The fan on the heater/air conditioner does not shut off, has been like that since I bought the car 4 yrs ago.
Back seat is quite small, but fine for younger/ smaller family members.
No power, 0-60 takes forever and passing is scary.
Handles well even at higher speeds.
Loves the open highways.
I didn't think to look up my car for other peoples reviews, but now that I did, I'm very glad. At first I thought all the things that were going wrong with my Sundance was just because the people that we bought it from let it sit for about 3 years, but when I read your review along with everyone elses, all the same things seem to go wrong with everyones sundance. My dad so far, has replaced the thermostat, the head gasket, radiator, almost all of the belts, the brakes, brake calipers (because they were frozen over) Exhaust and theres still no way that car will pass emissions... And I do say that it is pretty slow on the highway, when trying to get up to speed, but it does love open highways and mine actually likes to go 95, and although it can go at least 125, the car itself starts shaking once it gets to 95. My dad has put more money into that car than what he did when he bought it. Then again, he got it for 150 dollars, and I think its worth more than that, even though everything in the engine leaks. I love my little car.
You said you replaced a "set of heads" yet you say it's a 4cyl, a 4 cyl only had one head.
