ABS went on it.
Break sensor stopped working.
Digital climate monitor stopped working.
Clutch is very high.
Upper plate on the suspensions need to be redone.
Breaks need to be changed regularly.
Revs very high in 5th speed.

The mechanic loves to see me at his garage cause I'm paying his kids college fund.
The dash is full of warning lights that put you in the Christmas mood even in summer.
I really was disappointed with my first BMW, Maybe I got unlucky with a lemon, but some people had warned me before buying it.
It handles great and performs nice in 5th.
It looks really nice and the driving position is perfect.
Love the sound system and the manual transmission, Can't see why would people get this little beast in automatic.
I always wanted to have a BM since childhood and I should have waited to be able to afford a new one cause after this 318 I will think twice before getting another.
"Breaks need to be changed regularly."
Yep.
If this is a case...
Of course it is risky to buy a used BMW, but that is so with any car.
Before you buy I’d recommend that you consider getting some help from a specialist for minimizing upcoming risks.
I also had a 1993 318is & thought she was a really strong old car, she had her problems & seemed like she'd had a very hard life (as a lot of small engine BMW's do!!!) but she never missed a beat.
Maybe get a mechanically minded friend or the AA to check out your next car & try taking it to different garages for repairs.
I find if you keep going to the same place they will figure out how how clued up you are about mechanics & charge you accordingly, eg I had a vectra that needed new ht leads & spark plugs, I was told by one garage I needed a new ECU which would cost me £1000, needless to say i didnt go back again.
