Heater needed to be replaced due to corrosion of plastic pipes, dashboard had to be removed so it took a good days labour and there are a few more rattles now. Computer that controls cold start injector needed fixing (as car was hard to start), wasn't cheap to fix either! Little niggly bits that occasionally need doing - generally a 5 min job for the mechanic.
Great car to drive, the quattro size wheels make a big difference to handling (wouldn't have it without them). Three speed auto not good for fuel consumption. I would recommend an 80, however a mechanic said to me that the electrics are one of the areas that often need work on these cars... haven't had any probs yet so fingers crossed!
I'm on my 4th Audi - had an '81 Coupe, an '88 80 1.9E, an 85 GTE, and my latest a '92 80 2.0E, and not once have I had real problems with electrics. One driver's power window (had water, age), and a hairline crack on the solder of a starting relay (the '85 GTE), that's it. They probably lump all European cars together, those mechanics.
I have a 1990 audi quattro once it starts and warms up it cuts out. does anyone know what this could be from.
