Cabin at the back is just right for my family although back seat can be more comfortable with deeper bucket seat. Space at the back is just nice for 3 average-sized adults. Anything more, it be cramp.
Space in the front cabin is good although I would have preferred something to rest my left foot whilst driving.
Driver does not control the central locking for the passengers. I'm unable to lock/unlock the doors with a push of a button like the new Camry. This is frustrating especially when the Camry which I have owned for a couple of years has this simple function, but useful function.
I am still puzzled why Jaguar manufactured the engine bonnet lever at the left front side when the car is right-hand drive especially when this car is imported from the UK and cars are right-hand drive.??? This poses a slight inconvenience to the driver.
Engine so far so good.
Performance is above average. Noise level in the cabin is minimal except when car is accelarating to 3000 to 3500 rpm. At this speed, the car emits a purring noise as it pushes the car forward. It's not very nice sounding compared to the Camry.
This car definitely turns heads. I was just doing a complete waxing Autoglym waxing job yesterday afternoon and lo and behold, many came to view the car out of curiosity. The expressions on their faces says it all - envy!
Jaguar, both past and present, connotes an almost regal reputation. People view Jaguar more than the round-the-mill Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Saab.
I agree the 2.5 is a more practical engine size than the slightly less powerful 2.1. I have the 2.5 sport and find the power to weight ratio not bad, plus you get the permanent 4 wheel drive with this model & the 3 Lt. You do have to use the gears to get the fun factor out of the car, but it dose go when you want it too.
The drivers foot well could benefit from a foot rest for one's left foot and that's with a manual box as well.
I've had 7 months with my car and love it, it's the first Jag I've owned, one option I would have gone for is the split rear seats for folding them down just for the occasion when I want to carry something longer than the boot space would allow.
One last thing I've just developed a small problem with the CD unit won't play any disks first thing in the morning when cold for about 15 minutes after that it's fine, dealer said they would order a new unit and change it out when I bring the car over.
UK Aberdeen.
Do anyone of you who owns the X-type and driven for a year (approx. 23000km) experiencing gurgling sound from the engine only when I accelerate from low to mid-torque? I would like to know what causes it and what are some of the remedies? Otherwise, this car has brought me and my family over a long drive (in excess of 16 hours return) from Singapore to the East coast of Malaysia recently.
I do not own a Jaguar X-Type, however I do know a fair amount about cars and engines. Gurgling could be any number of things, most commonly they are,
Dirty/clogged: injectors, intake valves, air filter.
New spark plugs may help as well.
Hope this helps.
The noise is caused by valve blockages. Get it cleaned by the Agent. Thereafter I recommend you use Caltex fuel only which does help to minimise the noise.
Jaguar, a british car making company, stopped all of its operation during the second world war, and its been commanded to make only jet planes which the country was in need of it. Jaguar, shows its royalty from past to present. Now being auctioned to an Indian automobile maker, TATA, a pioneer in the field of almost all businesses. lets see, how they stand with the brand.
