1970 AMC Rambler from North America - Comments

6th Nov 2003, 21:07

"Thirsty animal"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Muffler fell off.

Head Gasket Blew at 310000 miles.

RUST RUST AND MORE AND MORE RUST

Snow leaks through the doors during the winter.

Thirsty engine.

Screeches

wind noise and lots of rumbles

wheel fell off when at 90km/h.

General comments?

The car has been owned by 12 people.

It has gone through a lot of history.

I hate the reliability.

Costs are high.

I'd say a 35 year old car with 300,000 miles on it is doing quite well - Most of those AMC's were turned into appliances long ago!

You "hate the reliability" but in the three years you've owned it you have managed to put almost 70K miles on it? On top of the 300K it already had? Or do you hate that it IS reliable? If so, why would you have the head gasket replaced when the body is all rusted out? You must LOVE this car! It is certainly one of a kind, because AMC stopped making the Rambler after 1969; you got the ONE they made in 1970!

Sorry, my bad! I thought I was writing about the Gremlin, but I ended up with the Rambler, no wonder.

Well, you see the last owner of this vehicle put the big V8 engine on to this automobile.
