"A pocket rocket to be proud of!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing at all so far. The only complaints I would have about it, are the way it is ever so easy to stall if you are doing tricky maneuvers (parking etc) It also has the extremely annoying intermittent fault of when going on long trips of misfiring (it will never seem to do it for the dealer, so it never gets fixed)

Rust in boot - was caused by boot latch and repaired to better than new under warranty.

General comments?

This is a seriously FUN car, with stand out from the crowd looks, heaps of character, and far more go than a 1300 engine should have. I really do not know why there aren't more of them out there!

I have my sirion gtvi for three years now. It served me very well until the engine suddenly stalled while travelling along busy Whitehorse Road, Ringwood, Vic., at the intersection with Heatherdale Road in Melbourne, Australia. I found that the EFI fuse was blown and subsequent replacement of up to 5 fuses with identical current rating as the original, sourced from a Speedometer accessories shop nearby, all ended up blowing. This suggested there could be a dead-short in the circuit. The EFI relay was getting hot as well. Left the car for approx. one hour to have a break at Hungry Jacks. Fitted another new EFI fuse and this time the car started. I have sent the car to my dealer, Lane Daihatsu, but no fault was found. Now I feel quite insecure driving the car when at the back of my mind I know there is a chance the car can just stall anywhere and could be placed in a potentially dangerous situation. Can anyone with similar experience help. I did enjoy driving this car for the past 3 years and would like to keep it for a little while more.

If you think you've got problems, mine has done it's clutch at only 55,000 ks, the engine has started drinking oil and the intermittent misfiring fault I mentioned in the review has turned into a anytime anywhere fault, with Toyota being less than helpful with any of these issues. I'm super unimpressed for a car that is only just on 2 years old!
