I really love this car and would love to have a new Altima some day.
I have 60,000 miles on her and she is still running like a champ with NO problems at all.
I have been so impressed with this Altima that when I'm ready to buy again I will probably get another one.
There is plenty of room, front and back, with large trunk space. Everyone comments about the comfortable seats and the nice ride. I just have no regrets about buying my car. I'm still in love.
I have actually had a bad experience with a 2000 Altima GXE in a collision. I was involved in a horrible accident where a 1987 Dodge Dually rammed into the side of my Altima. The car was forced into a median and was flipped completely over. I WAS wearing my seat belt (thank god) but it locked up while I was hanging upside down and even though the front-end was completely smashed in, the airbags did not diploid. I was trapped in the car which was still running and would not shut off due to a locked ignition. I was scared that the car might blow up and there was nothing I could do about it. I ended up being pulled out of the car by paramedics after being stuck for only ten minutes, and I walked away with minor injures. I was lucky, but I would hate to see what could happen to someone else who might really need the airbags to work properly at a time of need and for that seat belt to function as well. The car will start even today, so dependability is obviously not the issue with the 2000 Altima. It is more importantly SAFETY!!!
To all Altima Lovers, BE WARE and BE CAREFUL!!
