Erratic miss at 1500 miles.
Wheels are pitted at 5000 miles.
Rust on dog leg the size of a half dollar in six months.
Second set of wheels with the same
previous problem at 10000 miles.
Front strut spring broke at 16000 miles.
The rust on the dog leg is now a open wound. a hole that measures 1x3 inches
at 16000 miles.
The best for last, the under side of the vehicle is nothing but rust. Rust up into the strut housing is very serious and the miles again are 22000.
I know ford motor company won't do a thing. In 2 or 3 years this car will not pass the state of pa. inspection. the rust is a very serious problem because it's up into the overall structure of the vehicle. Taurus owners do an inspection.
With all respect, but I'm not sure if this guy really owns a Ford Taurus. I mean the guy does not even know the transmission of it's car. A information that every owner or potential buyer should know.
Also the review just, informed that the engine which, it's car, has is DOHC, but doesn't inform about the displacement or if it is a V6 or 4 cylinder engine.
By the way, the reviewer forgot to put the scores for all items that should be graded: Performance, Reliability, Comfort, Dealer and Running Costs.

Hi! It's me again.
Once more, I ask you: What is the engine and transmission of your Taurus?
Please, tell me because in Ford Motor Company, does not sell the Taurus in Brazil.
Also, I would like to know what scores you put for the performance, reliability, comfort, dealer service and running costs.
Please answer these questions!
I Agree with the above post. This reviewer should inform the Transmission of its car.
The engine nor the transmisson has anything to do with the problems of this vechicle!!! but to put your minds at rest-----it's not a v8 nor a v4 and the reason for that is because they only make a v6. they are all v6--all of them!!!as for the transmisson---an automatic on the floor. happy?!
I have a 2000 SEL No rust on it at all and it has 289,000KM on it. Yes Sir. Its how you look after your car. Don't be a dummie and spend 75-100 every fall and spring and get your car undercoated.
As for the engine. I have the 3L Vulcan not the DOHC 24 valve and since new I have never had any type of running problem with the engine. My mother on the other hand has a 99 taurus with the 24V engine and has replaced it at 150,000km.. but if your likley like most people, you don't baby your car. I drive the hell out of mine and it runs better then when its babied.
Who ever spends 75 to 100 dollars every spring and summer for undercoating. Never heard of such a thing!!! What manufacturer recommends this practice?
Just a comment on rust proofing. Many variables will determine its effectiveness. Such as: where you live (salt on the road or in the air) ; stored outside or in; where you drive. Aside from these criteria, to truly protect your car from rust, rust proofing should be done once a year. Most rust proofing companies will only guarantee their work if it is done every year.

If you intend to rust proof your vehicle, be sure it is not a spray on tar type coating. This type of "rust proofing" actually increases the risk of serious rot because the rust eventually gets between the coating and the body and unless you scrape this crud off, you can never be certain it isn't doing exactly that. The best type of rust proofing is an oil based solution that gels, but never hardens. And yes, once a year is best. CHEERS!
I'm the owner of this {RUST BUCKET} and I'm doing what most people would do----I'm getting a {HONDA}.
The car an SEL loaded with 27k miles and it's worth 'bout 9k dollars. If it were a Honda it would be in much better shape and worth a heck of a lot more!!! CHEERS!!!
I inspected a completely rusted out mustang in PA. Passed of course, and this was two weeks ago (2005).
PA is leniant on rust. Maybe because most of the citizens of the state's brains are made out of it...
Anyway. Go get your little rice honda and have fun. Honda. Honda lol. Hahahaha *thinks about hondas* lmao. Those cars suck.
Open those garage doors!!! You're inhaling too much carbon monoxide. FORD is closing plants and laying off thousands of people. WHY??? Not because they make good vehicles, but to the contrary----one word-COMPETION!!! Even a rusty brain can figure that out.
In response to the guy who said Hondas suck... have any of your cars lasted 233000 miles with nothing, but a clutch replacement and items that wear out like tires and brakes. Seriously. Original starter and Alternator in my car. AC and radio don't work, but who cares, the head has NEVER been removed from my engine. Can you say that. And I beat the daylights out of my car. I used to drive it offroad. FWD surprised a few Rangers. And the poor old Accord still starts right up after I crashed into a curb snapping the drivers side axle and cracking the spindle hitting a curb after drinking a 40 of Old E and a tall steely on no sleep. OK, I did the same thing in my 70 Deville with nothing, but a tweaked bumper.. but the deville sure as global warming isn't gonna go 233000 miles with one alternator and starter.
Here it is 2008 and Toyota over takes Ford for 2nd spot. Ford has a nice line up of cars for 2008--- especially the Edge. But not for me. I hope all that chrome and chrome wheels hold up better than my Taurus. We will soon find out, but not at my expense because I still have that bad taste and the no satisfaction from Ford. They deserve what they get.
