The odd bits of rust around the body (typical Fiat..)
Gearshifter/Linkage was a bit loose.
Tires needed replacement.
Door hinges were very worn.
I bought this car to keep me sane while I was at University and it turned out to be the finest driver education vehicle ever. Suddenly I had to master the tail-out oversteer slide recovery.. often. Fantastic fun.
Once I got it up to 90mph on the speedo. Felt more like 1,000,000mph.
A tip, don't remove the spare tire from the front end of the car. It is about all that is holding the front wheels down!
I replaced the engine one day - it took about 2 hours to complete.
Gorgeous Veglia gauges and a wildly oversized wooden steering wheel.
I purchased one of these vehicles new in 1969 in Perth W.A.
I then drove it to Queensland, via Mount Iza through to Alice Springs. This trip took about 14 months as my mate smashed it in Brisbane. Due to the repairs that were done the subframe broke near Coober Pedy and it had to be trucked back to Perth.
My memories of the car was that it could blow the doors off a 186 Holden if you really rang it neck, it was a great car to drive and when it was good it was very good and when it was bad it was terrible. Yes and I would buy another one tomorrow. Cheers.
I never owned one, but for a month I was given one whilst my car was in the shop.
What the hell is this I thought? It revs, it handles, it's noisy, it's fast, and it feels like a sports car. But how can it be - 850 cc. I told the guys working on my car to take their time, this car was a blast.
I wish I could buy one now.
I bought one for $100 in 76, when I was 15. Drove it to high school for 2 years without a driver's license!
Had a blast with it, felt like a Ferrari to me.
