I have had to replace the catalytic converter at 142,000 miles. Minor repairs such as latch on the convertible top had to be replaced because of wind catching the top and ripping it out. The cost was 20 bucks. Also, the knobs for the windshield wipers on dash come flying off when switching speeds.
Geo Metros have ran in my family. The oldest one in the family is a 1989 2 door hatchback with a current mileage of 368,000 miles on it still running strong. Also, a 1994 2 door hatchback with a current mileage of 234,000 miles on it still no problems with one clutch replacement. Besides my 1991 Lsi, my sister has a 1998 Lsi 2 door hatchback with mileage of 56,000 miles on it. It hasn't burped once.
They are a great commuter cars. But, nothing to race with.
They don't have a much get up and go, but getting around is what you want with very high mpg, this is your car.
My Lsi automatic convertible gets 45 mpg. The oldest Geo Metro mentioned, 1989 gets around 50 mpg stick shift of course.
Can someone tell me where the fuel filter is located on a 1991 Geo Metro Conv?

Could anyone tell me where you can get the latch for a 93 Metro convertible? I just purchased a 1993 Metro convertible with 80,000 miles and it is great except the convertible top comes unlatched while driving down the highway. In the first review the gentleman said he purchased one for $20 and now it works great. Please, please help me. I love my little convertible, but cannot drive it with the top up for fear I will ruin my top when it comes unlatched. Thank you so much.
You can find latches for top in Amory Miss at the chev. place.
I have a 1995 Geo Metro 2 Door hatchback. It has 153,000 miles on it and it still runs great. The gear shifter is going out on second gear, but its still manageable. Probably the only thing that I'm going to have to fix sometime in the next year. Also the dashboard has faded greatly because of the sun. It looks like a zebra, only gray and faded gray. The cassette deck is a little quirky, but it still works if you give it five min to decide if it wants the tape or not (it spits the tape in and out until it finally takes it). I love my car. Last time that I checked it was 1/2 freeway miles and 1/2 in-town miles I had around 38MPG. I live in one of the worst places in the country for gas prices. When San Fransisco was whining about their gas being $2.55gal... we had over three dollars a gallon. I couldn't ask for a better car. It's a real trooper. It still costs me under $20 to fill my tank. I don't think I could be happier with something else.
I have a 1991 Geo metro lsi convertible. It jumps out of 5Th gear. What is the problem?
I have a 91 Metro Conv. Lsi. I just changed my fuel filter today! It is located on the drivers side, under the car, just in front of the left rear wheel. Not the easiest to get to if you don't have a lift. We used ramps and it was still a pain.
Love my "Lil GEO!"
I bought it last April,06 and put a new top on it. The Orig Lt Blue paint still shines and I get 40+ MPG and I DRIVE HARD. Thinking about a blower and side pipes off my Honda Valkyrie. Any Help>rabbit76009@Y PLEASE!
Love my "LiL GEO" (again)
If any of Y'all have an 'Abandoned' lil fella, (89-91 Metro Conv),I'd love to buy it for parts. I'm in N Texas and could make a trip as a mini vacation. I plan to keep mine for a long time and would give new life to the transplants.e-mail,

I have a 91 metro convert with auto; what is the little pull tab for on rear part of console?
You might want to pull it and see. Just make sure it's not a release D-ring for the parachute...LOL.
Does anyone know a source for the weather seal rubber on the convertible top of a chevy sprint?
I have a Geo Metro Convertible 92. For the first time since buying it used a few weeks ago, I need to put the top up. However, it only makes it within one inch of the latches to hook up. What am I doing wrong? Is there a push/pull thingy somewhere that allows it to come the last inch? The top is almost new condition. The tab in the centre above the rear plastic window is used for tightening the top as it gets older and less tight.
Thanks.
Justin Kase.
Yeah man, I have the same problem with the convertible top... I just bought one used and the top comes within an inch or two of reaching... did you get yours fixed? How did you do it? Anybody have ideas?

Let those tight tops warm up in the sun before pulling it up to the latches.
I just bought a new top on EBAY, but haven't had it installed yet. When I bought the car in terrible shape both latches and header were broken, my local yard provided new and used parts, it is in Sun Valley, ca., at 818-768-9981.
I guess the original tops were all made very tight for some reason, so that the latches can't stand the strain.
EBAY also carries some of the latch parts, the headers though are very pricey.
