Had to replace the spark plugs @ 1000 km.
Extremely quick for a 1,6 and a very low fuel consumption.
Not so smooth running very fast, air noises and the engine revs are a bit high compared to a sedan.
Friendly interior with tons of storage space.
Not so good finish, something to improve.
Excellent ratio cost-product
everyone loves it, so do i.
Ford Eco Sport is dangerous!
My son rented a Ford Eco Sport from Avis in Argentina. Comming out of a a curve on a mountain road, whisle driving at a low speed (30 kph),the steering element controling the front left wheel suddenly broke. It tore down the front left tire. The car became uncontrolable, the front right of the car hit the small protection wall on its righ and tilted on its roof.
The small protection wall (and the low spped) prevented the car from falling down the precipice.
My son and his girl friend could have been killed.
Avis debited my son's credit card, despite the fact that he had subscribed to all insurances and that the accident was due to a production defect from Ford and/or poor maintenance from Avis.
Ford should recall all Eco Sport before car passengers are killed.
Ford and AVIS should appologize for risking my son's life.
Regarding the comment of the lady, i'm pretty sure that her son wasn't driving at 30km/h, because no one drive at that speed. (i drive faster in a bike).
And about the mechanical problem, if you don't give mainteinance to a vehicle i'm pretty sure that it will broke, just like everything in life.
I agree with the last person that commented. I have owned an Eco Sport for some time now, and I've not any such problem with it. 30 KPH, please! you're hardly moving and for a vehicle to flip like that just doesn't add up. I will agree however that this vehicle is a definite gas guzzler though, that's the only regret that I have with this vehicle. Other than that, it's a real sport to travel in. As I'm the only person that rides in this vehicle, it has enough space for me.
I own an Eco-sport here in Nicaragua.
Great little truck! The story above doesn't seem like it contains the entire story. Sorry the kid had an accident and hope he is OK now.
I've never had any problems with my truck as described above. In fact, I could not be happier with it! Well... maybe if it got a 100 km to the liter I would!
I have a Ford Eco sport 2006 and searching here on Internet about any recalls found this blog. It happens that yesterday as I was driving away from my son's school (less than 30km for sure) and turning right to start driving on the street the wheel direction lost control because the tie rod just broke!! Wonder what would've happen if I were driving at a higher speed!! An guess what? It was the left front tire too!! maybe it is a production defect or maybe lack of maintenance, but I should tell you that this car has been getting its maintenance directly at Ford every 10,000kms!! I'm just waiting for them and see what they come out with after checking it!!
I have a Eco 2005. My family and me are happy with this car. The issue is the FAN, is the second time that I need to replace because is not working. The fan's velocity is increased and make a lot of noise, after a time the fan did not work and the ecosport star to be hot. Do you know if this is a factory issue?
I have a 2006 ecosport diesel 5 on the floor and I love this jeep very very much. what I love is the miles it gives me to the gallon, And it's handling. I live on Long Island one of the Bahama Islands where some of the off roads or not so good but all and all it handles off and on the road great. My normal speed is 90mph and it takes coners curves very well. I have it double under coated so that should keep the salt from the metal for a while. I hope your son is okay but tell him to please tell you how fast he was really going. As for Avis sometimes they don't have time to service those cars and jeeps. strange things do happen so maybe he was moving at a snail's paste and turn over on his roof. All I know is that the money Avis took from his credit card could be replace, so once he's okay that's all should matter because it could've went the other way around, where his life could've ended and that can't be replace. So be thankful with a grateful heart.
