I have replaced the entire cooling system twice.
I have replaced other components of the cooling system several times. The fan switch and thermostat go out about every 3 to 4 months.
The car squeaks all the time, really badly when I go over bumps.
It leaks where the roof connects to the car so bad that I can't keep moisture out of the car and it has mildewed.
It is sitting the the parking lot of my apartment complex now because it just will not start. It was fine one minute, and in the time it took me to pump a tank of gas, it was broken.
I am convinced that everyone that says that Hondas are good cars are liars. I have spent more time on the side of the road with that car than I did in a Jeep Cherokee that I finally got rid of at 300,000 miles. I have taken excellent care of the car, all scheduled maintenance is always done on time, but it still just isn't reliable. It is sitting the the parking lot of my apartment complex now because I refuse to toss another dime into the piece of junk.
I think whoever owned this car previous to you messed it up. Have you read all the other reviews? These aren't common problems with the Del Sol. I have one and yes it does leak and the driver seat has wore a little on the left side, but that's normal. I don't understand how you believe this was just a Honda thing. someone had to have treated this car badly... maybe you should have checked that out.
At 300,000 thousand miles what do expect, you got your moneys so stop crying!!! it's a good car, but my mums crashed hers! never mix mums ans nice cars, they don't mix.
I've had my del sol for 10 years.. best thing I ever bought. This guy must have done something wrong to his car or it was abused by a previous owner. Too bad he can't appreciate the car for what it is.
Obviously the car is a lemon.
Check the other reviews. I have had mine for 2 years and
never had a problem that wasn't normal wear and tear.
I should also add that I beat on this car as much as I can and auto-cross many times a summer.
I've owned several similar cars that I have raced
and this one has been the best it terms of breakdowns
and broken parts.
I would suggest this car to anyone.
As for the leaks, sure mine leaked, but after 10 years
the rubber seal drys out.
I replaced the seals and, Voila, no more leaks!
Del Sols are great Cars. Yeah it may have some issues, but what cars don't have problems from time to time. I think you must have gotten a bad one or you haven't fixed a problem that is making other problems occur. Like replacing thing 3 times? There might be an electrical problem causing a short or electrical malfunction. You may have just gotten a dud.
Hondas are over all really dependant cars. Its like Windows 98, the most stable opperating system ever made by microsoft. It may be old, but still dependable. Just like the Del Sol. Anyone want to comment on this, email me, willgatlin@Hotmail.com.
Yes you are right. Everyone who says Hondas are good cars do so because of some grand hidden conspiracy that Honda has been funding the past twenty years in an effort to eventually rule the world under a unified government based upon a cult-ish belief in the reliability of cars that are nothing, but constant headaches for everyone who owns them.
All liars. Every one of the millions of extremely happy Honda owners. All of them - lying to you because they are hypnotized and not of their own will.
Anyone with half a brain knows that the Chevy Blazer is the most reliable vehicle ever built.
Everyone!
Chevy blazer? you can't be serious...
I only buy japanese cars. My Toyota Tercel I bought it used 3 years ago and it always starts. 30K miles with no extra cost... only fuel and oil changes!!!
Every car maker can make a lemon and you may have bought one. I have a 93 Del Sol Si and I love it. No problems ever, but I take good care of it. Mobil 1 every 3k and Pro Long every other change. Where can you find a better car that can get 40 plus mpg on the interstate and 32 in the city that's as much fun to drive.
My Del Sol runs like a dream. never gave me a hick ups. Best value for money, petrol and style ever.
The person who says American made cars are reliable, is he who has not owned a Honda, Subaru, or Toyota. (my #1,3 picks on most reliable car makers, God only knows how many of these cars are out there still running with over 300,000 miles on them and still not using a drop of oil!!!)
I've owned a Dodge, Chevy, and Ford. I got my del Sol and was kinda scared. It had 170,000 miles on it when I bought it in 2000. It is 7 years later and I will never own an American car again. Having my Honda with 265,000 miles on it now. I have spent around $200.00 on this car since owned.
I just want to say a kind word of advice. If you own an American car; give a hoot, don't pollute, recycle!!
I am in agreeance that Hondas are by far one of the most reliable cars on the road, especially a del sol, buddy you just got a lemon or a car that was beat up bad before you, Now as for a chevy blazer being the most reliable...somewhat, but no doubt in my mind that a chevy truck is the most reliable in terms of how long they last nd cost to repair, Honda is definately #2 but chev trucks go to 300,000 miles without a problem, and what problems they do hae are not very expensive to fix, unlike my acura (honda) over $5K in 4 years, but well worth it the car gives me more than it takes so I keep on paying.
I've had my del Sol for a year now, and with 180,000 miles I've never had a problem.
Yeah the roof leaks a little. But only in a monsoon or a carwash.
And any car will last you forever if you take care of everything like clockwork.
A Chevy blazer?
I guess it could last a long time.
So can a Honda.
IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT.
Bought the first Del sol sold in my area in 1993...absolutely love it. Have had a few minor wear and tear issues like any car..178,000 miles, first brake job at 90,000 and only replaced the clutch at 130,000 due to a mechanic that put the the wrong transmission oil in it and burned it up.. after replacement not a single problem... maintain it and it will take care of you.. I don't know what to do once it wears out... but I hope that is a long long time... Fun-est car...I love it... I do agree that the red color has gotten me in trouble with the cops but then again... it does fly on the open road... Highly recommend...sorry for your trouble with yours... and hope you don't discount it for someones neglect...
