1994 Ford Taurus SHO from North America - Comments

Shortly after I bought it the electrical system failed (350).

Then my engine was overheating because the radiator and the thermostat were stuck at the same time (400). After a short time the starter failed. Then I had a tune-up going and had to replace all the sensors.

Oxygen sensor.

Vehicle Speed Sensor.

Etc. (there are even more things, can't remember)

Now I'm experiencing all kind of problems and plus the tranny is b**l.

It shifts when it feels like. Also I hear the valves doing some type of bad work. There are all kind of noises that I just found out too. Tomorrow there is another problem adding to it. Oooh yeah I forgot to mention the brakes are dead. Mhmmm... I still feel there are more things. I have another SHO with manual transmission and the engine is stuck on that one. Never had time to figure out what's wrong exactly. Also I did have many problems with that car too, but this one is more problematic.

P.s. I drive very normal and I'm trying to go nice.

This car probably was good when it was brand new. For 10 year old SHO there is nothing good to expect. Buyers whenever you look forward to get this junk don't do it. I'm not saying that this car is a zero, but you will 99% be under the hood fixing it. This is my 2nd SHO and I have friends working on it and myself too. There is no way you will be able to drive it for 5k, and without looking at something that will cost you for sure.

I don't want to sound mean, but that is what an old/used SHO is, nothing, but trouble. My favorite car in the whole world is a SHO, but I refuse to buy one that is old. The third generation SHO are the worst. They sprocket failure, that essentially ruins your engine. Go to www.v8sho.com for more info. My grandparents have a 1994 ATX, and that is the car I want. Sorry for your lousy experience with your SHO. I purchased a 1994 SHO mtx about 2.5 years ago. It had 117,500 miles on it when I got it. I knew going in that it is a more expensive car to repair than a standard Taurus, but that is the price you pay.

I have performed regular maintenance myself, and have a reputable garage do the work I can't. Unlike your experience I have had no huge failures that made me want to sell the car. That is not to say I have not put money into the car, as I have.

An SHO is a car of passion. If you are not passionate about the car to begin with, do not buy it. If you are passionate however, and are willing to put the money into it, you will be rewarded with an awesome car that is fun to drive and admired by those in the know.
