Nothing is wrong with the car so far.
I own a 2000 Saturn LS. There were some minor problems with it regarding the starter.
I returned to the same Saturn dealer to find out what was new in the 2004 lot. I purchased an Ion 1 and am very impressed. There is more room in it than the 2000 LS and it handles better due to the new steering electronic design and wheel. It turns sharper as well.
The battery is in the trunk to stave off temperature changes in the hood, but one can still jump the battery from the hood through an attachment. Overall, it is a smart car and fun to own.
Apparently, Saturn listened to its customers.
I wish it did not have Firestone tires, though.
I am now a Saturn fan.
I was in front of a new (sticker still on window) Saturn Ion on the freeway a couple days ago (Jan. 2) and noticed the front edge of the hood flutter violently at @65 MPH. It was intermittent, and I noticed it for a couple miles, to be sure I really saw what I saw. Not very impressive.
Was the hood latch closed? Did you ask if it was? Is that all you can find wrong with the car? Not very impressive criticism.
