2000 Land Rover Range Rover 2.5 DSE from Belgium - Comments

"A feel-good car, everyt ime I get into the car it makes me feel I made the right decision buying it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At 127,500 kilometers the transfer box broke down immobilizing the car; it was repaired free of charge under warranty.

General comments?

The 2.5 BMW diesel unit makes it a very slow car, especially when accelerating. Once at speed it makes a very comfy and luxury cruiser. I'm considering a chip tuning set to increase power by 25%. Fuel consumption is at a very acceptable level, due to the same engine.

Although some quirky ergonomics, you get used to them quite quickly and then you start to appreciate the little details.

The Harman/Kardon hifi set is very good.

This is a car you buy with your heart and not with your head.

I own a 2000 year model 2.5 diesel and the only thing I can say is that this car is 99 percent perfect, since buying the car in belgium I have used it to tow 10 meter boats from uk to greece in speeds 120 to 140 kilometers an hour.

The car behaves perfectly well at high speeds while towing and deals very well in motorway cornering.

The only thing which I have changed so far is the engine heaters nothing else, never experienced any problems despite the clock being at 190000 kilometers.

I looking to purchase a 2000 Range Rover. However, after doing my homework and reading some of the comments on this site make you think twice about buying the car. Anyone, could you let me know what specific problems you had with the car?

I am looking for a range rover dse 4-5 years old and finding out how difficult is to find the proper car ie km reasonable, maintenance official and no troubles with engine part.

If you have any suggestion or advice before buying such a car please do not hesitate to forward me with - it will help me a lot.

Hi, I drove a 01 RR recently and was tremendously impressed with it.. though I do agree it is frustratingly slow to 'take off'... would an ECU re-map solve this problem and improve what I expect to be 'heavy' fuel consumption...

I appreciate any 'experienced' advice... thanks..Ger o' Donnell... Clare..Ireland.
