"Audi quattro = German Tank"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The clutch master and slave cylinders went out $ 350 repair.

Replaced brake rotors with ATE powerdisc rotors $100 pr

Axis metal master Pads $50 front.

Rear muffler is going going gone. Not bad for 15 years old factory muffler. Radiator developed a crack in plastic top due to lack of antifreeze, my fault.

New plugs and Wires $100.

Heated driver seat burned out from me running it on high too much. Fixed from online advice $ 5.

Tie rod ends replaced $70.00

$ 675.00 in 5 years = $135 year

That's only $11.00 month to own.

Engine and Tranny still good.

Laid to rest 11/03 now parts car.

General comments?

I Admit I'm an Audi addict! I have owned 3 Coupe GTs and now own 2 Audi 90 quattros. One parts car and one daily driver I recently purchased for $600. Going to have to switch tranny from old car to the one I just purchased because 4 gear syncro is out.

These cars are truly built like a German tank. This car is nearly unstoppable in winter driving. My mom was really impressed when I drove up an alley that was a sheet of ice. My friends Honda Passport could not even start up the same alley before losing all traction. That is the beauty of the quattro all wheel drive system with TorSen (Torque Sensing} differentials.

Its all mechanical, no computers, no viscous couplers, the only true active, not reactive, banned from racing,50% front 50% rear normal torque split all wheel drive system. Same system used in the Hummer H1 military vehicle, not the H2 domestic model.

I call her " The Tank " my coupe GT is "The Kit"

My prior Tank was nearly undistructable until I slid the rear into a high embankment last winter showing off.

That repair would have cost more than than I would have liked to put into this poor abused little Audi.

Another Silver 1988 Audi 90 quattro found me so I bought it for $ 600.

Theses cars are great bargins and excellent commuter vechicles. Audis will cruise at 75+ mph and hold the road like a large car because quattros weigh 3000+lbs. Stay away from the automatics. Trannys are not that good.
