I bought the car with a 5 speed manual 'box from a Series 5 RX7 but needed it to be changed back to an automatic setup because I had a few metal pins in my right leg. The auto would let me drive the car. No fault of the car, the guys that did the job for me put in a shorter prop shaft and the linkages never lined up so there were no gears and they also forgot to connect the oil feed to the hydraulic system for the clutch mechanism!
Once that was sorted the electrics blew, and are still blown until I get a wiring diagram for the car which is proving impossible to find.
I love my old "Porno" cars and the Luce is one of the best. It must be the ugliest car Mazda ever made so I love it! It's white, has 8.5J 13" chrome wheels on, a big bore exhaust and it's been ported quite a bit. The sound is amazing and the car actually feels better than a lot of new model cars.
The interior is laid out well and the clocks are cool.
An old car like this with clocks marked off to 220km/h and revs to 7500rpm. Even new cars don't have that these days!
RX-4's are nice, but if you want to see an Ugly Mazda Rotary check out the Ugly Ducklings of the bunch the Mazda RX-5 or the Roadpacer!
The Roadpacer always reminds me of the Dodge Dart of the same vintage or thereabouts, despite the techniques brought into post-war Japanese industry by W. Edwards Demming. The design folks in the Mazda stable have come a long way from those 'cheap imitation' days and are turning out exceptional designs since early 90's.
