The rear hatch does not work properly. It is like the wind, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
The head gasket did start to leak and I had to have it replaced to the tune of $600. When the mechanic took it out after fixing this, we noticed that there is a howling in the front wheels.
The front wheel bearings are going out. This is very disappointing. We did not purchase the extended warranty figuring that a vehicle that we paid over $25k for should run without these major problems.
We had to replace the tires after only 30,000 miles.
I am very disappointed in this vehicle.
This is our first Buick and probably will be our last.
Sorry for all the problems... that sounds like a lot of hassle.
Question for you.. was everything fixed under warranty?
I have had to replace both front wheel bearings at 80K. new from buick, $490/ea., from the junk yard $70.00/ea. and $35.00/ea. to install.
Everything else is fine.
This person must not be driving a Buick Rendezvous. We bought a 2002 new, and now have 57,000 trouble free miles on it. I plan to buy another in a year or two if Buick hasn't changed them too much. We replaced a minivan with this car, and know that we made the right decision. it's ride, fuel economy, and quality are outstanding, almost Le Sabre like. The BEST automotive value is provided by Buick. You can spend more for something a little nicer, and you can spend less for near junk, but there is no better value. The Rendezvous meets all of our expectations - roomy, versatile, comfortable, economical, luxurious, trouble free, fun to drive. Did I mention versatile and trouble free? Everyone I know who owns one would buy another.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the first comment. I've had to replace both front wheel hub/bearing assemblies (~$450 each), replace the air conditioning (~$1000), and I'm on my 3rd computer (all those were under warranty). All this happened with less than 70000 miles (the air and one bearing with less than 40000). I like all the features of the car, but I may have to go back to foreign - my Honda and Accura have run without any major problems for years and more than 150000 miles.
This car has been a bad experience. Our a/c condensor went out and had to be replaced twice. Had to sue dealer to make it right. Two condensers in 15 months is not right by any standards.
Have had 3 batteries. New starter. Alternator. Car will just not start on occasion. Have had to have it towed several times and then at some point it usually starts again (about the time it ends up in the shop it starts.) They hook it up to every possible diagnostic and can't figure it out.
Intermittently the ABS light, and the Check Engine Light come on. Had it checked; don't know why it happens. If I take the key out and flip it around the light usually goes off.
Wheel bearings went out.
Needed to get a spare key made yesterday (lost my spare) and my remote entry device broke apart last week (clicker for remote locking.) Went to dealer to get a spare key and remote; during the process of the mechanic trying to program the remote device the 'master program module' shorted out. The dealer quoted $650.00 to replace the module just to get the car in the position to make a spare key (which by the way has to be programmed and runs to the tune of $37 for key $40 for programming charges and $60 for the remote entry device). Add that to the $650.00 charge to replace the module for programming and I can get a spare key for my car for about $800.00. What a bargain!
The air in the rear (3rd row) of this car is horrible. Our kids kept complaining about the experience of riding in the rear and so my husband and I took turns riding in the very back and it's like riding in a closed coffin. No air whatsoever. It's so bad we can't drive the car on trips. We have 4 kids and have to use the rear seat; it's not optional for us. So every trip we take we rent a mini van. Which is about 4x a year.
This car has not been a very cost effective purchase for us.
Getting rid of it very soon!!!
People this car is not a buick, it is just a rebadged pontiac aztec. Gm did not even make the engine. The engine was imported from china because people in america want too high of wages, but want cheap cars. What else were they supposed to do?
Funny I think someone is making excuses for a GM product.
