Nothing.
Japanese clone of the Accord with the same 2L Accord engine (f20a, CBC3). Jap import into NZ, different styling than the Accord but basically the same, interior differs. Outside style looks like the 1999 Honda Accord.
Good sized family car that will not winge about four people and a boat attached to the it.
Extras: Climate Control A/C, ABS, 15" allows, sport/eco mode, decent 6 specker stereo (got to love those Jap stereos), fog lights, electric everything, power steering.
Large front vented discs, large rear drums.
Goes well, comfortable, a little noisy especially when you doing 160 kmh (wind noise), 4 stage auto with grade control, Japs love their autos.
Good handling for a family car compared to others of the same price/type.
Reasonable acceleration without any forced induction (i.e. no turbo, no super charger) and it's not V-TEC. 1997CC OHC 16 valve engine, fuel injected, 135 hp, 100 kilowatts pretty stock standard.
Speedo probably limited to 180 kmh as per Japanese regs, will probably go faster given the ease it gets to 160 kmh (150kmh in second gear(auto)!)
All in all, a nice car.
Other car recommended with thesame handling,
Nissan Skyline, or Primera.
Hi, just commenting on Honda Ascot Innova, bought 92 CB3 F20A just over year ago, 3/00.Best car I`ve owned, looks nice and goes well, changed auto to manual last week and she goes exceptionaly well though it is stock standard less a sports exhaust which is more or less a basic exh as the factory one was $890 + gst ex Japan.

Hi, just put a K&N filter cone type on my car, goes a bit better, noticed the throttle body has a 2 1/2" intake and the air box has a 3" intake, may modify this and put in a ram flo type induction system some how.
Hi. I've got a 2.3 liter, 4WS, Auto model with ABS and traction control. The car handles exceptionally well and cruises at high speeds with little effort. The 2.3 (h23a) engine has good low down torque. Its an excellent family car with electric everything and a sunroof. What more do you need?
At 150kmh the automatic transmission will be in third gear, not second.
I brought mine in 2000 and it still goes as well as it did then and I have never had a problem with it. Have done a few modifications and looks a lot better than it did stock standard.
Heres the list of mods:
17inch Mags
Lowered Springs
Camber Correction Kit
Simota Air Filter
RPS Exhaust system (with Catalytic Converter removed)
Mean Stereo
Tints
Air Horn
Alarm
Radar Detector (Definetly an essential component)
The biggest improvement I got was from replacing the Air Filter with a pod style and getting rid of that damn restrictive Catalytic Converter. Without the Cat there it is a lot better on gas I and have a heavy right foot.
I took off the rear spoiler that came on it and it has much smoother lines, but the holes that were left from it are rather big. It must have been put on as a quick extra as it left Japan.
A word of warning to anyone lowering theirs: The front camber goes to hell and it chews through the tyres in a matter of a hundred or so km's. I had to go and get a camber kit put on mine to correct this. They are easily available as it is the tendency of most Honda's (when lowered) to get really bad camber. It handles much better when lowered and looks a damn sight better too.
I'm trying to look for a bodykit for mine. I don't want the standard "Mugen" as it is a very boring style, but trying to find another is very difficult.
Was thinking about a engine transplant with maybe a 1800 VTEC, but I'm not too sure if it would work as cost may be too much of a factor.
The good thing is that most people don't know what it is when I pull up as it is too long and big for a Civic or Integra and too round for an Accord.
An excellent car to travel in and holds all 3 of my mates and I. Even with a sub in the boot there is plenty of room for travel bags.
Have had it to 185kph cut out, gets there no problem at all and it still feels very stable at that speed.
All up after market parts have set me back about $8000 and the car is looking good so I don't think that it will set me back too much more. The only thing I really want to do now is make up a cold air box for it, but it could turn into a challenge with the battery situated where it is. I have thought about relocating the battery and that might be the way that I will go. I had a look at the air feed and they are pretty useless as, one goes to the inner righthand guard and the other stops behind the front light which can't be sucking much fresh air at all.
I have to say that I don't have any grumbles about mine here.
I live in New Zealand, and when I bought my CB4 Ascot Innova, I was very happy with the look and feel of it. The only thing was the ABS pressure switch was clogged, which apparently was a common problem with these cars imported here from Japan.
My car is 4WS, and most mod cons. I've done no modifications to it, as I feel it doesn't need it. Its just too good.
My only problem is that I have searched the Honda. com site, for more information, and can't find any information on any Ascot's or Innova's.
But, it is still a great car to drive, and the 4WS really comes in handy.
Honda Fan for Life.
I bought 2005 Innova and my only comment is the noise of seatbelt whenever it was not properly went thru after releasing it. This is because of the space of the side of the chair against the wall. When it is not properly kept on its side it bump to the wall and it create an irritating noise.
But overall performance of the car - I LOVE IT!
Hi there-
I have a 1992 Honda Ascot Innova- Euro version Accord- and I LOVE it. The only problem is (and it has gotten progressively worse) is that when I am at low speeds...i.e. coasting, in car parks, foot not on gas, I hear a "clunk"- just one. What is it? Is there anything I can do for it? It is driving me nuts and I have no idea where to start. Thanks in advance.
Got the 1992 Ascot Innova. It's a mean car, I love it, but I'm trying to soup it up to be a show car I as want something different, but cannot find any workshop manuals or anything useful on the Internet to help with problems like all electrics in Japanese.
