"A car that will last you as long as you want it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When I got the car bought the front driver side and rear driver side windows did not work. The front due to a electric motor failure. The rear due to a loss of contact to the battery.

The power sunroof did not work neither due to a falure of the electric motor.

The transmition failed at about 207000 miles. I went to a neighboring mechanic who told me the transmiton needed to be replaced. I called my uncle who gave me the car and he came, got under the car and tightened one screw that was loose and that did the job. This is due to the fact that my Audi has a different type of Transmition.

The paint is slowly fading.

The antenna is not picking up radio signals.

A speaker got blown somewhere in it's history.

There have not been any other problems since this car was maintained properly.

General comments?

Now almost reaching it's 17 year this car still out preforms many other cars on the street.

The interior is like new. The leather does not have a single scratch on it.

One thing I really love about the car is that it does not have to have the key in the ignition to turn on the Radio, there fore you can listen to music with the doors open and not have that beeping noise all the time.

It comes with 9 different lights for your personal comfort, try and find that in a civic.

The Glove compartment and the trunk can only be opened by the master key and a reserve key is also given so that you can give it to people you don't want snooping through your stuff, like valet drivers and mechanics.

When you ad it up a German car will always be a German car. There is a reason for the price difference of a Japanese car.

I love my 89 Audi and I am very proud of it. Interior is beautiful, Body is great, and it runs quick and smooth. One problem... the parts can be on the expensive side.

Hi

I just paid £75.00 for my 1990 90 Quattro, what a bargain just had to buy a new twin exit rear silencer £130.00 (0uch!) and new rear wishbones and she is a flyer! got only 90.000 miles on the clock nothing for an Audi she will be with me forever!

Superb underated car...

I would say that there was nothing actually wrong with the transmission, but the gearshift linkage (which connects the gear lever to the gear selector on the gearbox) had come adrift.

This would have resulted in you not being able to select gears and should be fairly obvious because there will be no resistance behind the gear lever.

These cars were also very popular in the Uk if a bit on the pricey side (they were perceived to be an expensive way of buying a Passat) but the tinworm is killing them all off now.
