2003 Subaru Liberty Premium from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"An amazing pice of engineering, can't stop grinning :-)"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I wish the 2000 RX Liberty I traded for this one was as good, then, they wouldn't have anywhere to improve. A faultless car, why waste money on a 2wd BMW 3 series for the wank value of a badge and 20k price difference for a far lesser car???

General comments?

The first service at 1200 km was free.

I drove the car about 1600 km to another state and back for work starting with about 700 klm on the clock, she ran like a dream, hi speed stability at 220 km/h was like a rock, handling in heavy downpour of rain caused only a slight drop in speed, still cornered in the wet like it was dry. This is the third Subaru I have owned. I'm blown away with the improvements and performance gains made by the Subaru engineers. Awesome gearbox (auto). Magic engine, car handles like it now weighs half the weight of the previous model, I owned a 2000 Liberty RX before this one. I simply cannot rave enough about it. It's great to have headlights that work in the dark now, my only whine about the 2000 RX.

I'm now seriously waiting for the 3.0iR six cylinder model to be made available in Australia. Japan, Europe and US all get them, but not us???

The 2.5 is a great all round motor I have driven the 3.0 from a standing start there is little between them..I agree this new liberty is one fantastic car!!!Why can't they produce australian cars with the same build quality and reliabilty as a subaru.

Just to comment on the above, I would also love the GT, but ultimately I comes down to dollars. I look forward to test driving a 2.5i Premium auto sedan later this year and if it is as good as I expect then it will be my first subaru. My '88 Telstar can go to another owner :)

I have a 3.0 outback and I think that there is a lot of difference between the 4 and the 6. However, I think it just doesn't feel as fast in the 6. If you look at the 0-100 times, the 6 is up there with a VT commodore, but the 4 is quite a way off the mark. The 6 only really comes on song after 4500 rpm.

Would love to have gotten the B4, but needed a wagon.

The Liberty 3.0R is MUCH better that the 2.5. Speedwise and power and the Mac sound is magic.
