"A trendy car that lasts if taken care of"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

It was bought at 65,000 miles, one owner car. With up to date maintenance records.

I needed a new thermostat at 88,000.

I got in the same day after it was towed and my car was done in 2 days.

I have not had any other problems with this car.

General comments?

I was hesitant about buying a Hyundai, since my second car was a 1994 excel and those transmissions are garbage.

I went to the dealer where I bought my Cavalier(thats bad car for starters, alternators, and feul injectors, so traded it in for an Elantra. I liked the body style, the engine is quiet, and I got a really good deal on it. The comfort of the 2000 is decent, the 1999's came with more cheaper seats, and the body style is trendy. It had previously belonged to a saleswoman who traveled a lot, so I wasn't to concerned with highway miles.

I have had no major problems with this car, but should be more regular with oil changes.

Every car is going to have good or bad ratings, but for my Hyundai I am a satisfied customer. My paint has never bubbled and my car is in excellent shape. I have put many miles on it in 2 years, I am always on the go or traveling somewhere.

For safety the child locks are good, and the lock out on the power windows is great to keep my son from messing around in the car.

I guess you can say I am a happy Elantra owner.

I definitely agree. I just got a black one with very low mileage & it handles PERFECTLY. I have driven many different cars, but this car has the most fitting "feeling" as far as how it handles and accelerates. All in all I am loving this car so far. It's cost effective, looks good, and handles great.
