"I would pay a bit more for more reliability"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rear hatch would not pop up after 6 months of use.

39k & 41k miles, front hub bearings failed.

Poor heating for rear.

Marginal heating front.

General comments?

Overall an OK vehicle.

With a sun roof the interior lighting is not good.

Rear window view poor.

Rear Hatch does not unlatch with the first push of the button - takes two or three pushes.

Low Gear problem - jumps forwarded at 9 miles per hour.

Rear Hatch has started to creak with vehicle shifting around corners.

Has anyone found a correction for the back hatch problem?

There is a fix for your hatch problem and GM has issued a tech bulletin (Document ID # 1307608) on it. The hatch hinges are misaligned. Mine has been done and the latch has since failed to open only once on a quite cold day. I am still not happy with the effort required to raise the hatch and may request replacement of the struts. I obtained a copy of the bulletinn and measured the gaps as directed in it. They seemed fine to me, but after the dealer did the adjustment, using proper tools!, the opening process was vastly improved.

I also had the front wheel bearings fail at 16200K (10300 miles) and 20582K (12700 miles). Their replacement seemed to trigger disk rotor problems. There were symptoms of warped rotors and the dealer replaced the rotors after first turning the original ones. The problem seems to be returning just 5000K after the replacement. There is also a general service bulletin on this problem, but none of the cures have worked. Has anyone a possible solution?

We otherwise love the "truck" but next winter, assuming that the brake problem gets solved, I'll install winter tires and steel rims. Our model is the FWD with ABS and traction control, but we wander all over the back roads in Canadian winters and the 17" stock rubber is just too smooth for icy conditions.

It appears that GM took fright with the "ugly" connotation put on the truck when it was introduced. I hear that they are going to drop it form their roster. Perhaps they should have a look at all the other "ugly" copycat offerings appearing from Europe and Asia and rethink their plans.
