The heater and fan knobs are made out of plastic so of course they are going to break. Same with the inside door handle. You can't expect plastic to last forever. My 93 has faded paint on the rear 1/4 panel, a driver's side window that is on the verge of falling out, and broken plastic everywhere... but it is one of the best cars around. It takes a lot more abuse than most of my friends' cars.
I have a 93' Accord the knobs all broke long ago, my passenger door handle also broke off. In my personal opinion, these cars last a lot longer than GM or Ford cars and that is all I have ever owned before my Honda. My Accord is well on it's way to 200,000 miles (182,654) and just know started having alternator problems. I can't complain about 200,000 miles and just now getting problems. In January I will be upgrading to a 98' or 00'. These are very dependable cars. IF TAKEN CARE OF.
