1993 Ford Taurus SHO from North America - Comments

"Terrible, not reliable. Never again!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Electrical nightmare! The car would stall at any time without any warning. Spent thousands of dollars in mechanics and finally at the dealer and nobody could find what was wrong with the car. It wouldn't start after stopping, I had to wait 5 to 10 hours before the car would start again, like nothing happened. Seems that was something related to temperature.

Radiator had to be replaced at 121000 miles.

Transmission was previously replaced at 110000 miles.

This car is a fraud, a waste of money, don't have enough words to describe how bad it is.

General comments?

It's comfortable, but nothing else.

Gas eater.

Power windows two of them didn't work.

It had air leaks from the drivers door.

My car had the same problem. Mechanics could not find the problem with my SHO either. I found the problem and all it was is a sensor behind the front wheel dealing with temperature. The SHO is a very reliable car and I love mine.

I had a 93' and it would stall after driving on the highway at extreme temperatures, but only if the a/c was on and after nearly driving for an hour. A couple of dealers and a few local mechanics could not find any problems and told me to either deal with it (After all it is a Ford), or GET RID OF IT before it causes me to lose my house. I liked the overall comfort at the time, but after riding with people with foreign cars; I think I will stick to the expensive to fix, but very reliable German cars or a few Japanese models! I tried to be loyal to the Union made items. It seems to me that the union isn't what it used to be, therefore I need the most for my money.

I own a 1994 3.2 SHO. I love the car to death. The only problem with the car is that some people get it for the 4 door sedan and never actualy drive it. My SHO is amazing with 100,000 miles on it the only thing that is wrong with it after abusing it to no end (I'm a 20 year old male in the military) is a broken motor mount, and in my book, that is bragging rights. People need to remember that it is a high performance car and needs some love every now and than just like any other high performance car. To solve any problem with your SHO, let a teenage male take it for a drive rather than grandma taking it to church. PS try taking most imports with a powerful v6 and fit 4 males in it for a night of partying... it just doesn't happen. Don't hate on the blue oval.
