Check engine light came on 3 times.
Heater fan makes a loud noise often.
Water pump bearing is making a noise.
Seals in front axle sounds like rubber rubbing.
Ford should be able to make a vehicle that will run more than 42500 miles before it starts to have trouble. The customer service department would only say it is out of warranty.
My Ranger has chatter problem in the steering system.
At first I thought it was caused by faulty breaks.
The mechanic at the break place told me, "there was nothing wrong with the breakes and the chatter problem was caused by air in the steering system" I will now try to follow his advise and work the steering back and forth while parked with the engine running, in order to work the air out of the system. Anyone out there who has had this problem?
PS: My Ranger gets poor gas mileage? Any comments?
I bought my ranger edge two years ago and have had fairly good luck. Though The brake cylinders have been replaced three times in two years for excessive oil leaking. After 32,000 miles, the entire rack and pinion was replaced. And the passenger side wheel bearings have had to be redone twice... all of it was covered under warranty.
Now that my ext. warranty has run out I am a little nervous, also the gas mileage is HORRIBLE. Also it handles very poorly in inclement weather. Something I have also recently become aware of is the poor value retention of this vehicle... causing me to become upside down in payment to value.
Over all it has been reliable (with 300lbs. of sand bags in the back for winter).
