"A great car!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Our alternator needed replacement at 135,000 miles. The heat and the air -conditioning blew out two months ago. We think that is because of the alternator. The right hand power window does not work either. The right hand back door does not lock with the power locks. Also the armrest in the front is very unstable. The front right seats power stopped working too.

General comments?

The car is not the best looking car, compared to our last car (2001 chevrolet suburban LT).Even though it is ugly it gets the best gas miles. The seats are also very comfortable! This car is a good family car because it is roomy, comfortable, and dependable. This car also seems similar to the caddillac deville. It is also very powerful.

This is a wonderful car. I have had it and it since 1989. It is fully loaded and the best car I have ever owned. It has 167,000 miles and it has never broken down. I is very comfortable and has more than enough power for the average driver. It is a beautiful car. I would recomend it for students or someone looking for a travelling car. The only problem is that people don't take good enough care of it. I have absolutely no rust and I indeed like it better than my new car (Chrysler 300C with Hemi) except for the powere issue. So I will leave you with that and let you decide if it is the car for you.

I have just acquired a 1989 Olds Regency Brougham from my brother to bail me out after totaling my VW Jetta. It has been a great car as I am on the road all day for work in sales. I thought with the 3800 v6 I would be getting an average of mid twenties for mpg, but am only pulling 20 mpg with babying the foot petal as much as possible. This is a mix of town and rural highway driving.

If anyone could tell me why I might not be getting to the mid to upper 20's for mileage I would like to know what I could do to achieve that. This is the only reason that I may have to get something smaller to get the mileage I need to get.

As far as things gone wrong. Not much at all... The windows go up very slow, but still work. The drivers interior rear door lock does not go up and down automatically and the drivers outside door lock is jammed so I have to get in from the passenger door if I lock the car. The heater does blow hot air, but the fans are not too hard blowing, but heats pretty good. These are all what I consider things that should happen over a 14 year period of time. I love the car. It rides great, it's tight in the corners and it is what it is as I have $1000.00 total in it with new tires. The car has 127k miles.

If anyone could comment on my mpg that would be great. The best I got since I had it was 22.5 mpg and that was complete interstate driving for 230 miles then refilled to check.

All in all this car is definately dependable and comfortable. I would buy another one in a heartbeat for the lower price these cars sell for.

It is Feb 2008 in Indiana and I just bought 4 weeks ago a 1989 series 98 Regency Brougham Oldsmobile 4 door sedan... this beautiful car was garage kept, is loaded with all the important features such as tilt steering, cruise control, power seats, power windows, power door locks, trunk release in glove compartment, am-fm stereo radio and cassette, electric trunk closure, Led readout of automatic climate control, good tires, battery, exhaust syste... has great pick up, starts up each time... car has several small superficial rust spots.. white exterior with like new blue interior.. car looks almost like brand new... only draw back is that it has 190,000 miles... but I only paid $600 for this gem to a friend who did not need it anymore because he just bought a new vehicle...2 Questions??...what do you think this car is actually worth.$1200 or more? and also how many miles could this car actually be driven until it breaks down...230,000 miles or more?...has anyone know such an Olds to go even 300,000 or more miles?..thanks for any comments.
