All 93-97 Intrepids will have these problems -I Promise.
Transmission will fail before 70,000mi.
Air Con will go out every other year.
Tie rod ends, ball joints, struts, (suspension) will make bad noises by 50,000mi.
Intake manifold gasket will leak, creating rough-running.
If you live in a cold climate, these problems will happen even sooner.
Once you make these repairs (I've owned 2) you can expect a long, strong life out of the 3.5 engine. I have 171,000 miles & it still runs like new. A shame to mate it with a junk tranny & AC!
I have a 1996 Intrepid with the 3.5 and have never had any problems with the transmission. I had to have an A/C evaporator changed at 119500 miles. Car now has 158000 on it with no problems. I have had to put up with the suspension noises from time to time, but nothing major. It's been a great car.
I also have a 1996 dodge intrepid 3.3l and have never had any problems with the transmission. the only thing I don't like about the transmission is how when you floor it it goes into overdrive when it red lines.
