Never Owned The Original 121 but have had a couple of them as Loan Cars whenever the Astina had to go in for scheduled service and minor repairs and needless to say I am very Impressed with them, A bit slow in Gaining Speed and Kick Down, but once the car is going at highway speeds It is Fine, Prior to My Astina I had a Metro which is the later version of your Bubble Car which was nice too. I suggest IF you can afford it Go and Buy the Mazda2,You will be very happy indeed.
I have owned my 121 Shades (manual 1.3) since new in 1997. It is just about to do 80,000km. It has been the best car I have owned and suits my needs perfectly as a run-about. It is frugal, ultra-reliable (no breakdowns), easy to park, and a pleasure to drive. I like the four door sedan style. It has held its value well compared with previous cars (don't want to think about my experience with Hyundai) The only reason I would consider trading up is to get some of the modern safety features and I would probably look at the Jazz unless Mazda does something interesting with the Mazda 2 class (which at the moment does not excite me).
Singapore. Great car. Got this Mazda 121 Auto second hand. But I'm seriously looking for an extremely well maintained manual equivalent Mazda 121 to trade. Would love to keep it because I don't see any car as well designed externally as Mazda 121.
I don't know what you have in aus, but we have a ford fiesta over here and that's what I thought was in front of me today, but when I looked closer it was a mazda 121. But if you took the badge off it would be a fiesta almost to the last detail. Did mazda buy the rights to the fiesta after ford finished with that year model?
