2000 Oldsmobile Alero GL from North America - Comments

"My last Oldsmobile - possibly last GM vehicle"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The day we took delivery on the car we had to have the back driver side window replaced for a flaw in the glass. About 3 months later the windshield washer fluid tank had a leak and had to be replaced (dealer said it was a design flaw). Then the hazard switch shorted out and had to be replaced (just found out this has been recalled.) Not long after that the cruise control button shorted out and the coolant light kept coming on intermittently. Dealer repaired cruise control and said coolant was low, but they could not find a leak. Now, all the dash lights come on intermittently, service engine soon, service vehicle soon, trac off, anti - lock brake and I am being told the repair is over $1500.00 for the transmission fluid switch, ATF, side cover gasket kit - replacing those items requires a front end alignment. Then I need a PCM Reflash, and a right front hub assembly. My extended warranty just ran expired 3 months ago and Oldsmobile Customer Service has told me they will not assist with the repairs and they will not give me the number to the Corporate Offices.

General comments?

I love the way the car looks and have owned GM vehicles since I received my license, but looks are not worth the expense and hassle.

I have a 2000 Alero... only 50,000 km.. (about 34,000) miles... just found out my manifold gasket needs replacing. This car has been costing me nothing, but money... wiring problems...dome light not working,

hazard light problems...also needed a new transmission after owning it one year. I would not recommend purchasing an Alero to anyone. Nice looking car, but that is about it!!
