The only problems since I've owned this truck have been:
-Idle Air Control Solenoid $120Cdn I diagnosed and replaced it myself.
-Air bag Drivers seat sensor $150Cdn I had it diagnosed and repaired by a dealer. It again is flashing the airbag light at me... meh whatever, I have life insurance.
-Front brake pads $190Cdn diagnosed and replaced at a non-dealer repair facility.
-Tires were replaced, before I got the truck, and I am not happy with the winter performance or wet weather grip of these new tires.
-Rear wiper intermittent problem, never replaced because it works fine 90% of the time.
Overall I am happy with this truck as it is solid inside and out.
The acceleration off the line is comparable to the 5.0l in other Explorers.
Braking power is adequate for the weight of this vehicle.
Wind noise is a bit of a problem at highway speeds, but then again so is fuel consumption. My solution was to set my cruise control at the speed limit rather than 20 to thirty kilometres/hour over it.
I installed a sub-woofer and amp to the factory deck and the sound quality of the system is excellent.
Handling is great I have never felt as though it was going to roll over and burst into flames.
Hi!
I'm living in Sweden and I buy a Ford Explorer XLT -96 for 1 months ago. I agree to You, all spare parts pricing is to high. One little electrical switch for up/down window control, i. e price in Sweden 400 SEK = 55 USD, electrical switch for control electrical back window price in Sweden 450 SEK = 62 USD. Where can I buy cheap spare parts.
