Ignition coils have went bad twice.

At each start up a loud surge would emit from the sub woofer, never could be fixed.

The Turbo always hesitated and/or jerked.
There was a clunking noise in the shifting of the transmission.
Rattles in the dash were hard to determine where they originated from.
Rotors had to be resurfaced prematurely.

A total of 11 wheel alignments have been needed.

After receiving a call from a customer service rep. and informing them of my problems and concerns, the service manager called back and wanted the car to be brought in. However, once the car was brought in, the dealership was rude, no loaners were provided, was attempting to charge me for warranty/Audi advantage agreement covered items and then later stated they would not fix the car and I should not bring it back. This was told to Audi of America and shortly thereafter the car was repurchased as a goodwill gesture.
I would not purchase the 1.8T engine again as it had too many quirks and problems, I may purchase another Audi some time down the road however I would not purchase from the dealer so in this case I probably would not purchase an Audi again because of the experience I had and there is only one dealer nearby.
Yes, but the build quality is bulletproof isn't it?
I also own a 2002 a4. very quirky car. mine rains on the inside which is quite annoying. it's been taken apart and put together so many times it's starting to look old. I only have 12,000 miles on this car and I WILL NEVER buy another audi again. customer service thinks this is all good, they did tell be though that will will honor the balance of my warranty. wow, how nice of them. ps: also had engine coils, radio, alarm horn replaced. luxury junk box.
Ditto.
I will never buy another AUDI/ VW product.
Have 2002 A4 1.8 quattro. Engine coils replaced twice.
Master cylinder replaced. Countless electrical problems. Excessive tire wear.
Now brake light is out.
Can't wait to get out of the AUDI. When the car drives, it drives great. Not worth the aggravation. Dealer has been rude, uncooperative, slow and generally unresponsive.
2002 Audi A4 - Drives and looks great, but way too many electrical problems:
Brake light and brake light holder replaced twice.
Radio/CD player replaced once.
Alarm horn replaced once.
Moon roof switch replaced (and needs to be replaced again).
Warning light comes on and it must be taken in to get reset (this has happened three times).
Parked outside (very cold in Alaska) one night. Car wouldn't start in morning, no lights, no electric anything. Audi had it towed to the shop and then said there was nothing wrong with it. (They can rarely duplicate whatever problems I am having).
I bought a Nissan Pathfinder and can't wait to get rid of the Audi. Put an ad in the paper starting today, and guess what? That warning light came on again this afternoon. I'm going to sell low so I don't have to feel too guilty about the next sucker that buys it.
The only thing I have to say is that light bulbs DO burn out on occasion. Do you take your ceiling lights back to where you bought them when they light bulb burns out and complain? Didn't think so.
You WILL continually have light bulbs burning out if you don't buy high quality longer lasting bulbs. Audi and all dealers like to replace things that will only last a certain amount of time, so you have to come back to get it fixed again.
Goto an auto parts store, and buy bulbs that say how long they should last on them, and hold them to it. Replace the bulbs yourself, it will take 5-10 minutes at most and will save you time and money. All you need is a screwdriver.
But please remember, electrical components only have a certain amount of life in them, buy higher quality for a higher price and you will get what you pay for. This also applies to motor oil. Buy high quality synthetic and change every 5,000 km's whether you think it needs it or not.
I have just bought a used audi and the next day the battery died! along with that one of the blinker lights went out and to top it all off the transmission is acting funny now. I think its slipping but I'm not to sure. this car sucks!!! I replaced the battery and the bulb and the check engine light goes off and on. the brake light warning light comes on all the time and I mean allllllll the time! this car is horrible and did I mention that it sucks!!!
