One major problem, but it was covered by my dealers warranty. When I would drive the car for a long time, mainly in the summer. When it shifted the transmission would shift VERY hard, you could feel it through the whole car and it did it through every gear. so I brought it to the dealers shop And they said my pressure plate in the transmission had a bad crack in it. They ordered me a new transmission that was worth 1500 bucks and it was covered by my warranty. Besides that only things to need fixing were the brakes and rear suspension, but those are normal wear items and really don't count as problems.
Love the car. When I get rid of this I will move up to the 2003 GTP, because this body style is the best one. And of course the 4 door model because everyone likes the 4 door better than the overrated 2 door. The interior is holding up very nice. console gets dusty really quick, but what can you do. I all around love the car and will own many more Pontiac's in the future. And since this is my first car, it set a great first impression of Pontiac's. I work with a few guy who have the SE version and one guy who has the GT version. They all love theres and haven't had any major problems. It looks like people who give it bad comments in here either beat there cars, or buy them with WAY too many miles, and a previous owner who beat it to death.
Its good to hear that you have had good luck with your Pontiac. I have a 1997 Bonneville and would not recommend it to anyone- unless the had endless repair funds. I bought the car with low km's, and I ensure all routine maintenance is done on time. The car just won't cut me any slack.
