"Great cheapy motoring"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Rust on front wings, boot floor and inner sill to floor joint.

Both front trunnions.

Brake master cylinder failed.

Big ends went and that was the end of her.

General comments?

Yes, poor handling and mediocre performance, but at the end of the day it's a little 1275cc engine in a quite hefty bodyshell. It was my first car and never failed to start ever, even in rain and snow. it would do 40-45mpg and nudged 100mph once with valves bouncing.

Trunnions wearing out was totally my fault, I didn't know at the time you are supposed to grease them every 1000 miles. Big ends went big time, again my fault as I thrashed it mercilessly and never serviced it once. I am not proud, I loved that car and totally recomend them if you are on a tight budget. parts are so cheap as to be almost free.

If The Trunnions have gone you can get another 20,000 Miles out of them by dumping a huge handful of Grease on the Tops. This improves the Handling no end.

It was a bit late for greasing, the front nearside wheel actually fell off.
