Two weeks after I bought my car, I had to replace the power steering pump.
Service Vehicle Soon, Track off, and Anti lock lights have been on for the last 3 months.
Need new Wheel Bearings.
Service Engine Soon light comes on once and awhile and car will shift hard, feels like it has a shift kit in it.
My car will not start if there is less than 1/2 a tank of gas.
Breaks are starting to make a weird grinding/clicking noise.
All four windows have scratch marks on them from something inside the door scratching them when you roll them down.
Useless in the winter if there is more than 1/2 inch of snow on the ground.
I have had this car for less than 6 months, and it was the first time I ever bought a car. It is the biggest money pit, and I will never buy a GM product again.
I totally agree with you Steven. I as well was tricked into buying a 2001 olds Alero. The car looked great and ran strong when I bought it at 50,000 miles. Since then it has only been a downhill trek. First the stabilizer bar needed to be replaced, then the right front bearing, and one of the joints. Now I also need the left bearing replaced as well as the tire rod and perhaps the brakes. When I say the brakes I don't mean the pads either. The electrical system is an abomination. The turn signal only works sometimes, and the air only works on the three higher speed settings. The tire pressure light and the change oil light have been on for months. The radio gets no reception when the defrosters are on and for some reason I have to hold the cruise control button down for it to keep working. This is horrible. This car worst car I've owned since my most recent car. This car also happened to be a GM car and the trans broke at 70,000 miles. I've owned three imports in my life and the total amount of cost on the repairs of all three cars comes no where near the amount I've paid solely to keep the Alero running. These cars are a disgrace and I will never ever in my life buy another GM product. Someone from Honda or Toyota needs to teach these characters at Oldsmobile how to build a solid reliable car. Because obviously they haven't learned how to yet.
