Nothing yet! and I hope it will stay that way, this beautiful toro just had a complete overhaul.
I have been looking for a 1968 toronado since more than 8 years and I finally found one on ebay, it is sleeping in my garage, I have 16 other oldsmobiles, but this one is THE jewel of my collection, everywhere I go I get the thumbs up! even more than my 1972 442! and when I tell them it's a front wheel drive they take an even closer look to really believe it, but you just have to push a little on the gas pedal and you can see smoke getting out of the front wheel drive tires because a rocket 455 has so much torque! as you can read I'm in love with this car since the first time I saw one near Buffalo 8 years ago, I am not disapointed.
One thing I have to say that I don't like about this beautiful car is the 4 drums brakes don't work as well as I thought they would. You have to anticipate more before stopping because you have to push harder than usual to come to a complete stop.
The front drum brakes can be replaced with disc brake to greatly improve stopping distances.

I am the one who made the original review and would like to update or write to you that I'm still in love with this beautiful car. I never thought that this car would attract and get so many nice opinions and thumbs up. I am driving the toronado 1500-2000 miles per summer and On highways I can see peoples in their cars turning their heads or slowing by just to read closely the fender nameplate and when they see the front bumpers you can see they're saying WOW!! As I love to drive slowly in town (MONTREAL) peoples walk slowly in front of it at stop lights and sometimes take picture of my toronado with their cell phone.
I have bought 2 other 68 toronado for parts, took one engine apart and rebuilt it and it's stored in my garage and next year the one that is in right now will go flat stock in my 87 cutlass salon. Because I believe the timing chain is going (455 still goes fine.. just in case) and by the shop manual and chilton book you have to take the engine out of the car to change this item because of the special front engine support.
The other 68 toronado is in a barn, needs a complete overhaul which I intend to do when i'll take my pension in 10 years (i hope!) from now. And this one is so special because it is a TRUE W-34 (one of 111) with the original engine and trans. rear notched bumper, OAI duct on driver's side, front disc brakes, only the carb. is not. But when I look at it I am a bit discouraged and hope i'll be fine then.
My th425 is still shifting fine, but I would like to rebuild one as a spare and can't find one re-builder where I live..anyone could help.. in eastern Canada or USA as our dollar is for now at par with the US..
By the way On eBay the parts for a 68 has gone over the roof.. unreal!!..especially tail lights and front grills.. I will now consider mine as GOLD... besides my 3 original engines with C heads I've got 3 more sets of C heads..6 sets of front honeycomb grills and 2 more Oldsmobile rocket emblems that goes in front bumpers... I may be crazy or nuts, but I can live with it!!..thanks.
