Emissions sensor went bad at 25,000 miles.
The car impressed me with its pick-up and handling.
Ours is a bigger economic drain then the Federal Government. I have another post below regarding a bad EGR sensor unit and electrical system problem. The car is hanging in the balance and feel like sending it to the big crusher. LEMON...
I recently bought a 2001 Ford Taurus SEs. I am very impressed with the handling, and pick up. I am not disappointed. I am also impressed with the gas efficiency. I would hight recommend this model to anyone. Keep in mind, I am writing this in 2006. I have really enjoyed my Taurus!
We bought our 2001 Taurus SES new, and still have it 95k later. It has not been a perfect car, but I would classify it as above average in reliability. An air-mass sensor went out under the extended warranty at about 50k, and there has been a recurring vibration problem which turned out to be a wheel, not really the car's fault in that case.
The only other recurring issue has been the brakes. It needed new rotors twice, and I had to have the car towed when the rear brake shoes disintegrated... odd for a car that only had 80k on it at the time.
Otherwise, it's been very solid. I just changed the plugs for the first time at 95k miles and it still gets 27mpg on the highway. NO oil usage and the transmission is tight.
In any case... thumbs up on Mr. "T"...My Taurus.
