"The best and worst truck I ever owned"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At 1200 miles the cam sensor blew out, causing the truck to truck to shut down. This would happen at any time, pulling up to a stop or traveling at highway speeds.

At 32000 miles the glow plug relays blew out.

At 36800 the transmission blew out.

The only failure that left us stranded was the transmission and fortunately it blew in front of the house.

This truck was not used at anything near it potential as I live one block from work and the only time it really gets used is to take trips pulling a 20 X 7 foot box trailer with a couple of ATV's in it.

General comments?

If not for my dealer, Ace Ford in Woodbury, NJ I would have gotten rid of this truck a long time ago. They have the best Service department that I have ever delt with. They also have given me many fair deals.

Love everyting about the truck except the engine package (7.3 diesel).

I have a Crew Cab and it is by far the most comfortable interior on the market.

The on the fly four wheel drive works flawlessly.

The truck rides very smoothly, 8 food bed, however the turning radius could be improved.

I have had enough with the engine package. I am trading it in on a new F250 with a 5.4 gas engine. The only down side will be the fuel mileage, was getting 18 mpg all the time and up to 23 mpg on one trip, I expect that I might see 12 to 16 mpg out of the gas engine.

Our 2001 F-250 CrewCab Shortbox Power stroke diesel is a monster. At 1100 rpm when the turbo kicks in you get sucked back into your plush leather seats and hope your pointed down a straight stretch of highway. Its never been a problem on fuel economy. And as for the engine the 7.3L is the best Ford diesel engine there's ever been, the new 6.0L can't compete as says a friend of ours who owns an 2004. For fun at a antique tractor pull we hooked ours up to a 20 000 ibs sled and pulled it 250 feet not even breaking a sweat while a, 2005 Duramax, 2004 F-350 with Banks Stinger kit, 1998 Cummins Dodge, V-10 Triton could not even come close. There was so much power it twisted a front Axel. The trucks gone 200 000 clicks back and fourth across Canada and the only major problem was the cam sensor went twice once at 30 000km and again at 125 000km other than that its ran smoothly.

My truck has started every morning on the first try. It has 4 wheel drive it works great, I only have one problem the dashboard lights or to be more specific the instruments they do not work until the truck has warmed up. It is not a fuse and if it is a loose wire why does it work better on a warm day?Other than that my F-250 could pull a house down and around the block.

I've decided that I'm never going to own another ford truck again. Why? Because after the past 5 (F-150's,250's Bronco's, and an Explorer), I've just grown out of them. I've never had a problem with any of them except my current 1993 Explorer, which at over 200,000 is starting to complain.

My current 2002 F-250 Powerstroke has been an awesome truck. fully loaded with auto, its been a great pal. Tows anything I want and very comfortably too. My 1987 and 1992 F-150's were good trucks also, which never gave a problem. The Bronco (1994) sadly had to be given to my wife when we divorced, and that's a great rig. She still has it, and loves it as ever. Go figure.

But you see, after owning so many and only that, I'm growing tired of them. They styling and such. It's always Ford Ford Ford. Ford this Ford that. I'm about ready to sell out and buy something else.
