Replaced O2 sensor under warranty (may have been caused by a tank of really bad gas, the check engine light came on immediatlely after buying from this independent station)
Rear disc brakes sometimes squaks when first moving in reverse while cold, especially if damp weather.
- The more I drive it, the more I like it.
- Sporty, firm, smooth ride
- Sits high, great visibility in traffic
- Good power.
- Great in the snow
- Being a hard-core Jeeper, I used to think it was cutesy looking, but now I really like the looks (ours is bright red, chrome wheels)
- I don't like the spare tire on the back and swinging tailgate, but there really is not any place else they could have put it.
- We get the rated mpg 17-23
- I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a SUV.
I have seen on here that another person had the O2 sensor go bad on their Liberty, maybe the Liberty is picky about bad gas. I agree about the looks. At first I thought it was kinda girly looking and almost didn't buy one. But now, I'm very glad I did. I've been a Jeep fan forever. I wanted a Cherokee and a Wrangler, but couldn't afford both. Now I can have both rolled into one car (with a hint of Grand Cherokee in the engine). Mine is a 2003 black Renegade. I think the fact that the light bar comes standard is very cool. That's one less thing I have to add on :). I haven't had time to upgrade it yet, but I plan to very soon. I also have the brake squeal issue. If you look on here, I believe it's under 2003, there is a nice discussion going on (which I have added a lot to) about the brakes. You and I are not the only ones. I find it very annoying, but not a safety issue at all. The comment is located under one of the ones with a blue frown face. Not hard to miss b/c there is not many of them. If it's not under 2003, it's under 2002. I have also noticed that the noise will now some times occur after driving around town for a while. Say you've been doing some errands around town and your trying to make it into a tight parking space. They will squeal while turning. I've made the dealer aware of this issue and they're trying their hardest to fix it.
Jeep On!!!
I was wondering if anyone could help with a problem my wife has been having with her 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited. The vehicle has 88K miles and runs well. About 2 months ago, the check engine light came on and wouldn't go off. My wife took it in for an early oil change and diagnostic. The oil change didn't solve the problem and the diagnostic showed nothing wrong. Then a few days later, the light went off. A few days later the light came back on again. She then brought the vehicle to a mechanic and, after diagnosing the vehicle for over 2 hours, decided that the gas cap needed to be replaced. The light went off. 2 days later, the light came back on again. Brought the vehicle back to the same mechanic who did a full oil change, tune-up and replaced the gas sensor. The light went off. That was yesterday. Today, the light came back on again. I refuse to bring it to another mechanic and have them "guess" at the problem, charge us an arm and a leg and wind up having the liht come back on a few days later. Any suggestions?
